Is anyone going to get over the old "Iron Duke" that was in the early third gens?

C'mon folks, smaller and lighter will be a path to more efficient Camaros.

A smaller, lighter Camaro with an advanced suspension? Yes please.

Give me some nice cloth sport seats too please.

There were plenty of people suggesting a four-cylinder Camaro with the current model. I heard rumors that GM had even played around with the idea but decided it really wouldn't have any effects on fuel economy.

I'm all about smaller and lighter, but 7 speed manual?
Maybe it's just the way guys felt when they added 5th and then 6th gears, but anymore than that and I'm going to start feeling like I'm in a big rig

Dude.... I LOVED CHICKEN LITTLE! im sorry I just had too...

But to say something somewhat on topic, I defintly see GM stickin an turbo 4 into camaros soon enough, either that or there going to keep the v6 for baser model camaros, an turboed v6 for SS models, and and an low displacement v8 for the z28.

I know the Gen3 was about 500 pounds lighter and smaller than the Gen2s. This will be a similiar comparison except weren't not going to see some 305 cross-fire engine. No matter what suite of engines come in the Gen6, you'll know they'll have more power than the Gen5s.

The Gen5 was designed with a convertible in mind. Maybe we'll see the Gen6 designed with a T-TOP in mind.

Folks, the future is bleak..keep the gen 5 SS going!!!
Not at ALL!! If 4-cylinder turbo engine gets put into a much lighter Camaro (a 4 cylinder 6thgen could weigh as little as 3300lbs) it'll absolutely FLY. It's possible it would be even faster than our current 6 cylinder.

Don't let the number of cylinders fool you. GM's turbo-4 has a LOT to offer. In Cobalt and Sky/Solstice applications, it even has an available factory power-boost tune that translates to well over 300 ft/lbs of torque and almost 300hp...all while achieving over 30mpg.

(I still want my V8, that we'll apparently be getting...but don't discount the possibility of a 4-banger...or try to compare it to that "Iron Duke" misfortune)

People....this is all a rumor....and a 4-year out rumor at that. But listen closely....

The Camaro Team cares just as much or MORE than you do about Camaro. They are keenly aware of where it's roots are, where it stands today, and where it should go in the future. They are more in touch with the enthusiast than any car of any brand anywhere. So please "keep the faith" as we did when the 4th gen went on hiatus.

Keep the Faith that the Camaro team will do right by the enthusiast and deliver an equally-outstanding next-generation Camaro that they've brought us in the 5th gen (or better!).

It would be hard, because that would require further modification of the Alpha chassis to support it. That equals more $$$, and from what I've heard, this platform isn't what you'd call "cheap". It's supposed to hold Cadillacs, mind you.......They take that "Standard of the World" slogan VERY seriously over there.

That being said, Alpha is a VERY flexible platform. It's not like Sigma which ended up costing so much that GM was forced to reserve it for Cadillac. Alpha's flexible enough to underpin the 6th gen and the ATS, and possibly a Buick Rivi...ehhh never mind.

...and the CTS, and maybe a crossover by the end of the decade...

I just hope they're able to focus it a little better than Zeta. Zeta flexibility comes with compromises the buying public ended up not appreciating.

DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON LINE

Ok now that said, how many times has GMinsider, Autoblog or any of the other sites that claim to have the inside story on a car been right?????

We will find out when GM wants us to find out.

Many times. In fact we were the first to report that the Aveo had been renamed "Sonic" and GM was forced to move up the official announcement by a few days because of it.
