My only concern is that there are only so many Greek letters. What is the next ancient language to move on to? I think Mr. Tolkien's estate might be of some use to us...

Yeah well it can't hurt to start planning for the future. Shoot, they use letters from Tolkien's languages, they'll have the nerd market cornered.

So do you guys think this may be a good year to go ahead and get the SS with the beefed up rear end or will they make one just as good or better?
I've been telling my wife I may need to order the 2SS RS because this is the last year for this really nice rear end set up and I may need to go ahead and do an upgrade. My biggest thing is $3-5K more and having to get premium gas which may go up plus the insurance factor which shouldn't go up that much because I'm 52 have a good driving record with no wrecks or tickets in years. I can really get by with the V6 because my Buick has a 3.8 in it and has plenty of power but of course doesn't weight as much as this new Camaro. |

So if this is the last platform for awhile, then how long are they planning on selling the G8, and the Camaro.....last I heard the G8 is not selling very well....and the camaro will sell like hotcakes....
I seen like 4 G8 GT's in Philly....not V6's

They'll just have a more targeted platform(s) instead of alpha, which had some very broad goals. One platform going from Solstice to CTS seems like quite a stretch to me.

Considering the Investment put into the G8 (minimal; similar to the GTO), it's selling very well given the current climate of the industry. I remember a recent quote from someone at GM/Pontiac. He used the word "pleased" when describing the G8 sales situation. And it's supposed to last for at least another 5 years, iirc.

Yup, at least the only costs associated with the G8 are slapping new badges on, shipping it over, and currency exchange. In exchange they utilize plant capacity a little more. Not a bad business case, and selling only a few isn't a real telling indicator in this environment. How sales look in 2010 is probably more important.

I know this is out of left field but am I crazy for thinking the G8 would look better as a Buick? Pontiac design's split grille obsession just isn't working IMO.

I'd love to see a muscular Buick. The G8 would make a really good transition.

I've been saying for a while (starting when it looked like Pontiac would be axed) that the G8 would make a great replacement for the Lucerne, and should be called the Invicta. It is pretty upscale, and can be considered the family man's Camaro, which could fit the Buick brand well. I'm all for it.
