Woosh and whine

I'm sorry for the stupid question but I'm wanting to get a Whipple 3.0 and I'm curious about the sound. In all the videos I've found, I can't really hear it over the engine.



Does the Whipple have much whine or woosh? Isn't there a part you can get to get more woosh?

PD superchargers typically whine under hard acceleration, but the 3.0 will be almost silent at low boost. Which is all you will likely be running until the motor is built. Woosh is from external BOV's (that are normally associated with Centri superchargers) when you let off the throttle. Similar to wastegates on Turbo setups.

Agree with King. Here’s a clip of my Whipple 3.0 last year when I first fired it up. Can definitely notice that she wants to rock and roll…

Yeah man I used to have a turbo Mazda 3 and I loved that sound so much. I may pick the PC over the Whipple just for the whoosh!

I never do anything exclusively for looks or sound, but a centri has a great turbo-like whine at lower RPMs just tooling around town. Its very audible. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling just hearing it, lol. It constantly reminds me what I've got under the hood. Once I go WOT, I dont hear anything over the engine and exhaust, but then i let off and theres the PSHHHHHHHT at the end.

Complete opposite experience from a PD which i think are pretty quiet until you stick your foot in it and then you get that amazing whine.

Totally agree! It’s taller than the Maggie but still very workable in the engine bay. The intercooler is integral to the lid and is massive…literally don’t know how you could make it any bigger lol

I would have explored a Whipple if hood clearance wasn't an issue for my car, but I definitely like the hose routing better. Even after changing mine up a little, the symmetry is still not there, and my OCD gives me a rash, lol. Look at those bricks though!!!

Yeah, hopefully I can get the port injection added soon and we can start to see what this blower is really capable of…! But gaining 104 WHP vs the 2.9 blower everything else being identical was a great sign.

I wonder if the LT stuff will get the Gen 6 Whipple 3.0 option. I seen they released it last fall for the Ford stuff. They claim it's worth 30-35whp over the gen 5 all else equal.
