Where it really gets funny is on forums besides C5 where they say a CAI adds almost no HP over the stock box.

There are lots of variables, the stock box being just one. I always look at where I'm going to get my biggest HP return per dollar. For me it was not the intake.

I have the K&N Typhoon and it works great
I've owned a 2011 without the hood vent
Now I have the current with the hood vent

It mattered more when I removed that clamshell from under my hood
Airflow improved 100 fold and this K&N appreciated the extra air going by as it scooped it's share on this 2014

Unless one is getting a vararam, New Era, or Pipeline there isn't the great difference in day to day driving performance

GM High Tech did a test to awhile back that showed no intake improved acceleration over stock other than Pipeline (Vararam and New Era weren't in that test)

Moreover anyone working as an engineer which I am knows if you expose plastic and metal to the exact same temp environment
The plastic and metal with thermostats on them will be the exact same temp
Especially under the extreme temps under the original cars hood

Oh and in three years I put 100,000 miles on that original Camaro ss
My leg use to get so hot with the original stock air intake from the heat
The heat didn't go down until I got rid of the resonators and such in the exhaust

Here's some pics of Roto-Fab, in case anyone is still in the market for a CAI.

john, I wish to better understand your point, what are you referring as the clamshell from under the hood? I'm also confused about which model year car did the K&N improve more?...
