camaro tailights idea (a more modern look)
Post Edited(1/25/14):
so i really like how the new cars look with the perimeter lighting look, an example being audi. I did this quick shop in like 10 seconds in paint to give you an idea. i got the idea to tweak the AAC afterburner 2.0 to give you guys an idea. Orginal: afterburner 2.0 my quick shop:

I like it with the lights on at night, that look is cool. However, when the lights are off, don't like it too much. Cool idea though

Yeah I thought the same after looking at it a few times , but the shopped pic of the the afterburner 2.0 looks like it would look really good.

How about this ? Changing the plastic bezels into functioning lights
This way we can keep everything stock and add those effects that will switch on with our DRL. |

I am not sure i follow. You want your entire taillight ringed with leds? or you want a red ring painted onto your taillight lens so it looks like a Mustang? Do you have rear side window louvres too?
If it is the first option then use a dremel cut the lens off the taillights add after burners that have been modified with a strip of leds soldered across the top and follow the instructions to closing and installing them as normal. If it is option two. Go to the for sale section advertise your camaro and get the best possible price. Then find your closest Ford dealership.

The idea is simply to make our Camaro's rear lights look a bit more modern just like the front with the RS Package's halos.
I guarantee that the 2015 or 2016 Camaro will have it. This is not only a Mustang look. Take a look at the Audi or VW... most manufacturers are now using the new LED Technology ( see pictures below ) , even BMW is using this on their front lights on the new i8 or the new Corvette. |

While I like the idea of a read ring of LEDs around the perimeter of the tail light versus the "U", I can't wrap my head around using mustang and Camaro in any comparison. I feel dirty after reading this. I must go wash now...

Or what about something to fill in the center section at the bottom of the trunk similar to the dodge race track tail lights
I don't have Photoshop so i am limited to paint so please excuse my lame attempt to change the picture. |

I can only see the OP's idea working as the innards to what DIYGen5 is working on here in this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=254983 .
I see this working well in a 1 piece lens. Not the four separate lenses that we have now. IMHO, the afterburner look that we see on the Technostalgia tails and perhaps better yet, the Plasma 2.0's on the Oracles, where only the bottom part lights up, is as good as it gets Last edited by Camaro Dude; 05-18-2019 at 09:23 PM. |
