Does the can tune from Magnuson or Procharger address TCM?

Hello looking to go to a super charger setup pretty soon , and was curious if the canned tune for the magnuson heartbeat or procharger address the TCM or does it just modify the ECM parameters? I have a A8 just didn't know if they modify torque tables, line pressure or other key points?

Joe

I did a read on a car we did last year with a Magnuson and they only changed the engine stuff. Nothing was changed in the TCM tune.

Maybe there's something different now, but at least last december it was like that.

No trans changes, just engine. I ran 10.80's on the canned tune and its pretty conservative.

Thanks Greg for the heads up.. Did you experience any of the transmission shudder that some of the A8's are experiencing?

I might say that's also very impressive with a canned tune running 10.80's with the heartbeat and drag-pack

I've only had that happen a few times. I haven't driven my car on the street since June so I'll find out tomorrow if it still does it. I'm finally done racing for the year so 9 second passes for next year. The deal still stands when every your ready.

Yeah I was wondering this aswell... I'll end up more than likely getting a dyno tune but I've yet to talk to my tuner about the A8 issues yet.... I haven't experienced the "shutter" myself yet but all these complaints got me worried haha

The factory transmission programming is got MORE than enough logic built in to fully understand the added power, and make the needed changes.

As one of the factory OEM tuners for that transmission told me... "Just don't lie to it, and it will be smarter than anyone pushing the buttons"

Be careful on what people sell as a "good idea" when GM has already done the long-term research on what programming is needed to make those transmissions live long and happy lives (for warranty reasons) even well beyond the factory engine HP rating...

The KISS method at its finest.

Hello Joe,

The A8 is not supported by SCT X4 so if you want A8 support you will have to move to HPtuners.

If you purchase your supercharger and HPtuners from JRE you get FREE custom tuning for both the engine and transmission, the converter shudder is very easily addressed.

Feel free to give me a call. 203-753-7223

Ted.

I am basically running the A8 stock tune. The dam thing shifts pretty freaking good and I agree don't try to fool it and you really don't have to mess with to much of the torque management. If you do it may cause the tranny to fail. GM did a pretty good job.

If you actually drive your A8 on the street, there is a huge improvement tuning the A8's TCM compared to stock tuning. One huge improvement is turning off the TCC slip tables and adjust the TCC lock up so the converter does not lock until 8th gear part throttle. I can not stand a automatic transmission that locks in the lower gears. I just want to feel a nice crisp shift and not AFM or Converter lock between gears.
