Horn volume

Does anyone know what the decibel level on the 2018 SS horn is? Is there any way to make the volume louder?

Some douche cut you off, eh? I almost got bumped into the other day by a half-asleep texting warrior at a red light, who started slowly rolling back into me and I had nowhere to go (another car directly behind me)... fortunately he heard my horn symphony just in time.

So the horn isn't overly loud for sure, but I don't think the volume can be changed, it looks like an old school hardwired solution.

Go stand in front of it with your cellphone and a sound meter app and hold down the panic button on your remote.

Then take off the bumper, reposition the horn so it's pointing directly out the front of the car. Then it will be louder. Hell there's enough room to install a train horn up front if you really think you need one.

install another one just beside it. then you'll have 2 horns that blows at same time.

Have looked at some pretty inexpensive after market horns that will solve the problem but was just trying to look for an easier way out than having to remove the bumper to do the work!

Can't you change the volume, tone, musical tunes from the display settings??

Get some kind of PA system. Then you can just tell them whatever you want.

The repositioning/aiming idea sounds good.
I don't know the SPL for the stock horn. You can probably measure it with a cell phone app to get the ball park. Measure it at 1 m or so, as any comparison with aftermarket horns will list the SPL at a distance form the source, likely 1 m.

Not gonna lie, it's bad up there. Nothing like NYC, though... these things are somewhat relative

Years ago I hated the puny-sounding horn on my '84 Celebrity so I installed a pair of Fiam air horns. THAT will get their attention!

And I'm sure that when you're in the car it is deadening the sound a little so it feels it is not loud but it is from the outside.
