Quick! How to check engine codes without odbc reader?
I've done it before, but I forget, and no luck finding the procedure on google. I'm on the road for the next 2 weeks...
I have a 2017 m6 ss. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

If you have a CEL or other telltale call OnStar

Around here some of the auto accessory stores will loan you an OBD tester or do it for you at the store. I don't remember exactly which ones but it is either AutoZone, Advance Auto, or O'Reilly auto. Look into some in your area to see if any do that. They hope that, if something shows up, you will buy the necessary repair parts from them, but you don't have to.

This looks promising. Never tried it, as I always pack my OBD2 reader if I even get a hint the car is acting up.

The paperclip only works on OBDI cars not OBDII. The only year it worked on OBDII was the first year of the transition from I to II.
There is no way to read the codes from the car in the car without some sort of bluetooth dongle or scanner tool/program. If you have an active Onstar acct you can call them for the code as well. |

My insurance company gives me a $203.00 a year discount if I have Onstar so I might as well get it or I'd have to give the insurance company the $203.00 a year. Last time I paid $169.00 for Onstar for the year. So I got $34.00 to have it
