The Time Has Come. APEX Street & Track Wheels For Your Camaro

Calling all Camaro Performance Driving Enthusiasts!

Our staff has communicated with the Camaro enthusiast community for well over two years now, and I speak for the whole team when I say that we’re ecstatic to get the wheels rolling (pun intended) on developing off-the-shelf lightweight fitments that are perfect for your Camaro.

I believe the saying goes, “lightweight, strong and affordable; pick two”. APEX has disrupted this thought process for over 10 years now, and once we get a better understanding of your preferences for an affordable (yet race-proven) set of shoes for your car, we’ll put our creative and engineering minds to work to develop a lineup of APEX wheels that makes sense. Street, track, or race, we’ve got you covered.

The best way to help would be to tell us a bit more about what you’d look for and expect in a set of APEX wheels for your Camaro. When you grab your next cup of coffee, could you take a minute to share your thoughts with us?

[ TAKE OUR CAMARO SURVEY ]

LEARN MORE ABOUT APEX

The mission of this thread is to re-engage with the 5th and 6th Gen Camaro community, as many owners have already adopted our BMW wheels for their Camaro. For those whom we have not yet had the pleasure of working with, since 2007, our focus at APEX has been to produce high-performance wheels with extreme durability and unprecedented value for the performance driving community. Combining proven Motorsport design features, vehicle specific optimizations, and advanced Flow Forming Technology, we've created wheels that have taken BMW performance driving enthusiasts by storm. As a grassroots Motorsport oriented company, comprised of a diverse group of auto enthusiasts, we understand that enthusiasts from all corners of the car community seek quality products at a affordable price point, and that these should not be mutually exclusive.

YOU ARE IN THE DRIVERS SEAT

APEX does not view the car community through a traditional lens. Since inception, this company has worked hand in hand with enthusiasts through many channels, but much of what we have accomplished stems from our unique ability to incorporate forum members into product development. Rather than sitting around a conference table internally brainstorming a list of products that we feel are relevant to a specific community, we have made it our mission to enlist enthusiasts in the decision making process. Tell us where the market is currently missing the mark for you, and how we can employ our core competencies to fill the current pitfalls. The action of putting enthusiasts at the forefront of product development ensures that APEX delivers satisfactory products.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

We guarantee a different customer experience. Car nuts come in all shapes and sizes, and it is imperative to recognize that enthusiasts have different priorities, as well as short and long term goals for their machines. It is not until our product specialists have completed a needs assessment, that we can suggest a valuable and meaningful solution to our customers. Anything less would be a disservice. Manufacturing wheels that compliment the multitude of suspension, brakes, alignment settings and tires specifications instills confidence in our customer interactions.

SHOW US WHAT YOU CAN DO!

“All of this sounds great, but show me what you can do.” When track enthusiasts took delivery of their new BMW F8X M3/M4, they quickly realized that the standard 10” rear wheels were not cutting it, regardless of how sticky their 275 tires were. Drivers had to cautiously modulate the throttle out of mid-corner with the threat of upsetting the car, and therefore lap times were not an accurate depiction of what this new powerful platform was capable of. Correspondence poured in from the community, and after some validation from the community, a lightweight EC-7 18x11” ET44 was born. A strong 18" wheel that offered enough brake clearance for the massive OEM BBK, check. Precise and proven width and offset to support a 305 or 315 r-compound or slick without extensive modifications, check!

The following article should give you an insight to our process, and our devotion to the details: APEX Test Fitment - Squeezing a 315 R-Compound onto a stock F8X

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, we wanted to hear from you—the community. The best way that you could help us develop these new wheels would be to take the brief Camaro-specific survey.

Happy tracking,
Ryan

I love the rims they look awesome. Light and wide this is what we want.
Wow, Eric the 305 will poke out quite a bit. Or even more.

With the right backspacing it shouldn’t be too bad. Besides, these would be for track use only so some poke doesn’t bother me.

I currently run their 19x10 wheels square with 285/35 on track and there’s no poke up front with 5mm spacers and -2.9° Camber so it’ll fit. I was a oroginally thinking of grabbing a set of their 19x10.5 ET25 wheels but I’ll Wait for the Camaro fitment now.

It's about time! I hope they're ready for next track season.

I have used Apex for my M3 track car for years and they're fantastic! I need a couple of sets for my Camaro please.

I currently have two sets of APEX wheels I'm using on the Camaro. One for winter and one for track. I would love for them to have the correct center bore. Took the survey. Excited for the results.

This, except in an 18" wheel would be my preference. It would need to be in the +10 to +15 offset range to work in the front.

I would love to see the FL5 in a 19" wheel. I feel like that's more of a muscle car style!

survey filled out! Thanks guys!

Any idea how long the survey will be open?

All I want are some affordable lightweight wheels that look good...which Apex definitely has. Always had my eye on Arc-8s when I had my E90.

Just did the survey and gloss black arc-8s would be the shoes for my baby. I was already considering the arc-8, now I'm going to wait to see what Apex comes out with. Not to long I hope, don't know how long I can hold out.

Appreciate your feedback. We are mapping out our internal list of desired wheel specifications based on market research and test fitments, and will be comparing our notes to the data that comes in from the community. I am interested to know, when it comes to an aggressive track rotatable square fitment, are there more Camaro enthusiasts looking for 19x10.5" or 19x11" wheels when accommodating 305 tires?

The 10.5" wheel would certainly be an easier fitment up front in regards to inner strut clearance and negative camber requirements, however 11" wheels would support 305 tires a bit better. For the S550 and S550 GT350 we chose to produce an 11" wheel over the 10.5" wheel based on community feedback.

Would love to discuss this in more detail with my Camaro truck junkies.

Awesome to hear you have personal experience with our product already. We are very excited to offer Camaro enthusiasts wheels that are specifically optimized for their vehicles. No more centering rings or compromised wheel and tire fitments.

When entering a new market, we typically kick off the first rounds of production with the most track oriented fitments - the smallest diameter possible which will still provide enough brake clearance for the chassis at hand. Although our 18" wheels offer some of the best brake clearances on the market and can clear a majority of brakes in question, we believe a majority of 5th and 6th gen Camaro enthusiasts are seeking 19" wheels. Regardless of which diameter is produced first, we will continue to support this market with new wheel fitments in alternative diameters to ensure we are offering the community a range of wheel solutions that suit their specific needs.

Thank you guys for your support. We typically leave the survey up until we get a healthy amount of community feedback. We are looking for consistent trends in the data, that hopefully corroborates our research and testing. The process ensures that our decision making is in alignment with community feedback.
