Weight Reduction

I figured I would start a thread on weight reduction for the ZL1. Minor things to start.

Rear seat (lower portion) 11.6 lbs
Rear seat (upper portion) 17.8 lbs
Rear seat belts and all hardware 4.6 lbs

Total of 34 lbs.

Shraders rear seat delete kit weighs in at 14 lbs. Netting you 20 lbs in weight savings. I was thinking about making my own lightweight version or just simply carpeting both areas of rear seat... roughly 330 bucks is kinda steep for a seat delete kit in my opinion. who knows I might end up just buying it... I figured i would do this because nobody will be in the back seat anyway and its less maintenance with cleaning... It would be great if people will chime in about their catback exhausts, intakes, racing batteries, wheels, etc, etc.

Can you take some pictures of the lower rear seat cushion? I'm interested to see how thick that is.

I can do that when I have a little more time. I just packaged them up and put them in my basement. As far as thickness its roughly 6 inches at its thickest point. Upper cushion is a little thinner.

ATI did a full kooks exhaust and lost 24lbs.

"97 lbs for complete exhaust system top to tail. 12 lbs each for DS and PS Manifold. 121 lbs complete Factory system"

Braille Battery's save weight. I swapped out my 2013 ZL1 battery with a Braille battery and saved like 20 plus pounds. This battery in my 2017 seems smaller so not sure what you would save there.

I don't have a Z but I plan the same thing in my 1ss. Need to lighten up a little since I put the SC on it. Drag Pack will save you a 100 lbs if your going to drag race it. That was 3 tenths in track times and a few mph. .
