Some really fast people in my region seem to think the Nexans are as fast as the RE71R, only it wears better.

I think it all depends on your skill level. A lot of fast guys poo poo Falken RT615+ and even the Hankook RS4 but they forget that a longer wearing tire that has consistency can help noobs(who are REALLY hard on tires) learn.

What is the general consensus on RE71 life? 50 autocross runs plus a few thousand miles of street driving? Less? If so you have an argument for just going to Hoosiers, I mean jesus, these things seem to wear out like q-tips.

I ran 295/30/20 RE71r's on my 1LE.
I got 2 track days, 70 autox runs, about 8,000 street miles with track alignment.
They are prone to pick up road debris, though.

I ran 275s front and 285s rear last year. Unfortunately, you can't rotate the tires that way, but I'll take that extra 0.1" of tread width in the rear lol. I'm sure it is more of a placebo effect than anything.

I think I had about 80 short autocross runs (30sec) + 5k miles out of my RE-71Rs and they are somewhere around halfway worn. I've been pleased.

I get maybe 70 good competative runs out of my tires and I dont run them on the street. Pinching a 275 on the front wheel really shews them up with the lack of camber you can get out of it. I did test a 265 on the front and they do wear better and I didnt really notice a drop off in performance. If anything the steering response improved. but thats an SS non 1LE.

I do know people that take them off, flip the tires and rotate them and they got about 90 runs out of them.

Sorry Im talking about RE71Rs here.

When I ran 275 square RE71Rs in F-Street I flipped them at 60 runs and won Nationals at 121 runs. They still had some life in them when they were sold.

A handful of those runs were in the wet, and 80 of them were on asphalt. Nonetheless, if you don't over drive they have pretty decent life.

This is my plan for my 305 square RE71 setup this year, flip them about halfway through the season, should make them last the entire season if not longer.

Backing up what Rotis said, I have won big events with 120+ run RE71Rs in both a Mustang and my Camaro...and for me 90% of the runs are on very abrasive concrete. My Camaro is certainly easier on tires than an SS, but with proper flipping/care 100+ runs and many thousands of road miles should be very doable.

The turbo is a lot easier on the front tires though. If our season were longer here I bet I could get more runs out of mine but I always want to have a decent set on the car for big events. Keeping them fresh leaving nothing to chance.

But that’s just me
