Colored DRL's upgrade options: Diode Dynamics vs Oracle?

Hi all,
Been looking at the DRL options that Diode Dynamics and Oracle (listed alphabetically) are offering.

I've been trying to make a comparison between the two and I'm having some difficulty. Seems a little confusing since I'm new to doing this. With that said, I do want to try it out. Life is too short to only have white DRL's.

General info that seems to apply to both companies:
Looks like both companies offer a replacement LED board to replace the OEM board in the headlight. This requires baking the light and disassembling it, then replacing the board. Seems pretty straightforward. No soldering or wiring required as far as I can tell.

Both companies appear to offer similar colors.

Both companies have a network of installers if folks don't want to try this themselves. Not sure on pricing for the install.

They both seem to offer similar methods of controlling the lighting colors.

Items specific to each mfg (listed alphabetically):

Diode Dynamics:
  • Integrated amber turn signal (Switchback)
  • Thermal management
  • LED board made in USA
  • Controllers seem to be a little less expensive
  • BT phone app/controller in work
  • Pricing: $180 for RGBW. $220 for Switchback.
  • RGBW Demon Eyes
Oracle:
  • Preorder deal - free demon eyes or ColorSHIFT fogs.
  • ^ $195 with $99 deposit by Sept 30
  • Controllers seem to be double the cost of DD
  • No phone app option yet.
If anyone has anything to add, I can edit the original post.
Just looking to compare the two to help determine which one might be preferred.

Oracle has a phone option. Its the colorshift wifi but pricey at $169. Ive used a controller like this. It shows as a wifi network on your phone. You connect to it then use the app. With some research, im sure a comparible controller can be found for much cheaper. I will probably order everything minus the controller. Depending on if DD puts out a good priced one....soon.

Items I want:
Drl rgbwa with switchback ( only DD has switchback)
Rgb demon eyes (both companies have this)
Rgbw fog lights (oracle has these and DD plans to release and i believe DD version will have switchback feature also)

I want to do it all at once but it seems it all isnt available NOW

Our Bluetooth smartphone controller will be RGBW, fully waterproof, and priced much lower than other market options, which aren't RGBW.

We also offer RGBW demon eyes (not just RGB)

We will be producing RGBWA board replacements for the DRLs as well, as opposed to inserting an LED strip into the factory housing.

All of these products are designed and manufactured here in St. Louis. Our engineering team has been working extremely hard to produce the best options available for the 6th Gen Camaro. They are coming soon

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask!

Thank you!

Thanks for the input. I think I agree with most of what you said, and I didn't realize the Demon Eyes were RGBW. I thought they were one color only.

I will update.

Thank you for adding some valuable info.
I hadn't realized the Demon Eyes were RGB, or RGBW, so that alone was good info. The pricing on the BT controller is good news and I do like the fact that it's made in the USA.

All I want is to be able to change the color of my halos and DRLs. The option to have them the same color, different colors and to be able to allow to do some sort of pattern. I also like the idea of the halos working as turn signals as well and switching back and I'd like to be able to control all this with a phone app if at all possible.
So what will this cost me and how soon will it be available and I'll drive to St. Louis for the install cause there is no one here in Indy that can do it that I trust. LOL

From SEMA.

The DRL replacement boards are available now
There is an option to control the color shift via your phone. Works by connecting through WIFI.

One of the techs stated to keep an eye open next week after the show for a promotion

I'm having installed the Diode Dynamics DRL switchbacks. I like how the DRL can also serve as a turn signal. If you check Diode Dynamics website, you can enter your zip codes and find installers. There is someone in my area who is an installer and they are doing the install. I'm having it done in a couple of weeks, I will post a video.

Another thing to add to your comparison..Diode has excellent customer service and their products are great. Oracles products are good as well but you get stuck dealing with suppliers like AAC. I have products from both companies and prefer Diode. Just my opinion of course, thought I'd add some extra input.

Just stillllllll waiting for Diode to release the rgbwa version of the drl and fog option. I plan on wrapping my Gen 6 which ill probably remove the front bumper to wrap it best. So id like to install the kit while I have the bumper off and have access to the headlights. I dont want to have to remove the bumper twice.....
