Hey guys!

As you all know Apple released Carplay iOS10 with maps on the DIC. They demoed it on some Chevy car.

Does anyone know when and/or how we will get it on our cars?

As far as I know and understand from reading articles online from review sites and apple, once you update to iOS 10 on your device (which is rolling out today worldwide) those features should carry over into your vehicle.

I've been using iOS10 betas on my phone since they came out and nothing has shown up on my DIC yet.

Are you running the GM or release version currently?

Or something they haven't launched yet. I know there were a few features they showcased at the reveal event that aren't available at launch of iOS 10 that would be coming in a later update like certain new camera features.

I actually haven't since the GM came out... Ended up selling my 6S and now am waiting for my 7 to deliver.

I was under the impression that GM would have to release an update to give carplay access to the DIC?

Gotcha. Once I update I will try and see if it shows up for me.

I've not heard that about needing an update since Apple has done CarPlay updates already in other iOS updates. The updates have all been handled in the phone's OS and sent to the car via the USB connection.

As in the phone itself is running CarPlay, and sending the data to the car. As far as I understand how CarPlay works, the app on the car merely reads and pulls the data from the phone with the phone doing all the work (rendering, processing the UI touches, etc)

You're absolute right. Carplay is updated on the phone, but my understanding is that the DIC is something that GM would have to open up with an update of their own. Carplay can want to send to the DIC, but if that "screen" isn't available it won't be able to send.

I'm no expert either lol. But wouldn't the map option on the DIC work with the CarPlay feature here? Similar to how OnStar or onboard Nav sends to the HUD and DIC?

I'm not sure, I was just under the impression that GM would have to add another page to the DIC, like they did for Constar navigation.

Can any one with iOS10 check to see if they can get the DIC part to show up?

That would be so awesome I can't even tell you!!!

If I could have pandora up in the center console for my wife to thumb things up and down, and one for maps in the dic it would be really nice.

Upgrading to IOS 10 now.

I havent been able to try it, but I've updated to IOS 10 and there is a setting for wireless CarPlay!!!

That's been part of iOS 9. The vehicle has to support it. Right now GM doesn't support wireless CarPlay to the best of my knowledge.

I'm still on iOS 9.3.5
