Technical Mylink radio question

On a 2013 Model, can you just swap out a radio without nav for one that has it?

Is it just a difference in the radio and not any additional hardware required?

There are multiple threads on this, but the short answer is no.

There is one option (mocar navigation) that allows you to use your existing unit and have 3rd-party navigation software added (it's in the thread I posted). It's EXTREMELY expensive...$1399 installed. I am thinking about adding it, but that price point is hard for me to get past.

There are several threads regarding this issue. The general consensus is that you cannot simply switch out a non-nav radio with a navigation equipped radio. There is much more than just the radio unit involved.

This DIY has all of the parts you will need to retrofit the Nav Mylink:

I thought he was running into issues to do this? Prices would be insane.

NO, it's will not be cost effective. I waited to get the NAV and even offered $3000 cash money over the cost of the NAV if I could get my car sooner and install myself.
Production only.

If you look, that still has not been done. I am not saying it can not be done, it is that the cost is crazy to do it and that is if you can.

I have checked extensively on the issue and at this time it is so integrated to the S# and all it makes it a tough thing to do.

It is the HVAC and all kinds of things to deal with. You also need a core or proof that the car had one to buy it.

Youre right that it will be expensive. Though I'm willing to bet Ofer has looked into it more than you have.

Also considering that Ofer is able to order the parts needed for the Nav install when he owns a 2010 Camaro should say something in itself.

People said that a HUD retrofit was impossible - Ofer figured it out.

People said you couldn't retrofit RS headlights into a non-RS Camaro - Ofer figured it out.

It's cheaper to go out and buy the top of the line Garmin Navi!

As per our internal resources, there is no current option to upgrade to the navigation system. We certainly apologize for the inconvenience.
