Compound, sidewall, suspension setup.
Just like my mustang was cutting 1.62-1.63 60's on a near stock mustang on a 255 tire while camaros making 100+ on a larger tire couldn't touch that. Suspension, axle geometry, etc etc all effect traction. So many people just look at width. A 225 drag radial will walk all over a 345 street tire. Just pointing out that width is just a small part of the equation of hooking up, and blown majorly out of proportion.

C63 can be compared to some cammed Camaro SS cars.

Well, "400hp and change" doesn't exactly describe 451+ hp (some packages offer 481 hp) and the car weighs only a bit more than a 5th gen SS depending on options & configuration. They trap in the high-teens up to 120 stock and can definitely run low 12s with a good driver.

It can, depending on the car and setup. A solid axle properly dampening car on a 225 can easily out hook at a 345 IRS car setup for road racing.

Seen plenty of them (c63) at the track. Even with not great drivers they are mid 12s. Low 12s and high 11s all day. Would need that Camaro to be an Auto and on some good tires in order to hang with. Money on the c63 if drivers are both decent

I had both setups. Kind of disagree but I see your point. Also some think that the widest Tire provides better drag times. Wider Tires provide more drag as well so the deal is to run a Tire narrow that provides sufficient grip and control. There is a reason drag racers run skinnies up front.

Top fuel are also limited on tire size as well. They all run the same size. It makes sense though, run the smallest tire that hooks good. Less rotating mass and less rolling resistance to boot.

In the C63s favor they have very light wheels, not so for the Camaro ss.
