A loaded z51 stingray is around 3450lbs. Manufacturers list base curb weights of the most basic model.

Guessing the weight you are seeing is the base weight. Z51 adds larger brakes and other things which increase weight.

3444 lbs

Its pretty amazing what this trany can do.the auto one has two extra doors more curb weight and its still much faster than the manual! I think the only good thing left in the manuals is the fun,I guess.

Here is a good look at Vette weight.

The National Corvette Museum is holding its Bash event this weekend to officially kick off the 2013 season as well as the 2014 Corvette C7, and one of the official details that was revealed yesterday (besides C7 pricing info) was that the 2014 C7 coupe without the Z51 package has an estimated curb weight of 3,298 pounds (1,496 kg) — or 90 pounds (41 kg) heavier than the 2013 C6 coupe’s 3,208-pound (1,455 kg) curb weight.
Here are the detailed mass reductions and additions to the C7. Keep in mind that these may not be all-inclusive:
Areas Of Mass Reduction
Frame: 99 pounds lighter
Body panels: 37 pounds lighter
Hatch: several pounds lighter
Control arms: now hollow, several pounds
Total weight savings is in the vicinity of 150 pounds, or 68 kg.
Areas of Mass Addition
35.2 pounds — direct injection, VVT, AFM
6.6 pounds — standard engine oil cooler
13.2 pounds — dual mass clutch
15.4 pounds — steel torque tube part of AFM
5.5 pounds — AFM exhaust valves
11 pounds — 7th transmission speed
18.5 pounds — strengthened differential, half shafts
18.3 pounds — larger fixed brakes
17 pounds — new interior appointments and safety features
17.2 pounds — upgraded seats
18.5 pounds — structural safety requirements
31.5 pounds — new infotainment and cabin technology, as well as relocating battery to the rear
3 pounds — bigger fuel tank
That’s a total weight gain of 210 pounds, or 95 kg.
Opting for the Z51 performance package would add transmission and differential coolers, a rear sway bar, larger wheels, electronic differential, and a spoiler. Although unconfirmed, these changes will most likely result in the addition of 150-200 pounds.

The ZF was the A6. The A8 is an in-house transmission. So, if you have a 2014 you don't have a ZF.

In my research, I can't find anything about the ZF 8HP transmission being used in Hyundais. Its used by BMW, Iveco, Fiat-Chrysler, Tata (Jaguar-Land Rover), and VW group. But I haven't seen anything about Hyundai using it. Upon further digging, I see that it was in fact developed in house by Hyundai themselves (autos.jdpower.com).

Be very careful when calling out people for not doing their research.

I think the estimates you are seeing above are probably pretty close to where the final numbers will lie.

This is correct. The A6 was made by ZF. The A8 is not.

Here is a video posted by Hyundai clearly stating that the 8 speed transmission was developed by Hyundai.

Might want to change your profile because it says you have a 2014. The early 2013s did have a ZF automatic, but it was a six speed. Since late 2013 you could only get a A8 and it was built in-house using their own technology.

Good info guys. I had mentioned this to him before but guess he forgot. Regardless amerhash28, you have seen the videos of the 8L90 auto in action in the Corvette and ATS, it is far better than your 8 speed right? Seeing is believing.

Sorry to inform, but that is not a ZF transmission, its a Hyundai Powertech 8-Speed auto. Hyundai designed it based on the ZF Friedrichshafen 8-speed, but the design is patented by Hyundai. BorgWarner supplies the transmission components for Hyundai.

"Designed and assembled by Hyundai POWERTECH, the company's performance and R&D group, the new high-performance transmission features a multi-step design with a wide gear span."
