SS performance numbers when?

When do you think we might get performance numbers on the SS?

I'd expect to see them shortly before they start hitting the dealers. They'll usually start sending production cars out to the big name reviewers (C&D, R&T, etc) So, maybe a couple more months?

Easy, just look at the C7 numbers. The Camaro numbers should be nearly identical.

They will different for sure. Corvette is much lighter. I'm guessing 0-60 in 4.2 and 12.3 for the 1/4 mile for the auto equipped car.

The Camaro is 400+ lbs heavier than the Vette.

If that were the case there would be no good reason to buy a Corvette.

The Corvette is made out of lightweight aluminum alloy and carbon fiber with advanced aerodynamics. The Camaro is mostly steel.

You are not going to have nearly identical performance numbers.

The old drag racers rule of thumb is for every 100 lbs. of weight you can expect 0.10 in 1/4 mile times. Obviously a lot comes into play.

If the Camaro SS is 400 lbs. heavier than the Z51 expect 0-60 times of 4.1 and 1/4 mile times of 12.4.

That "rule" would apply to changes made on the same vehicle.

Typically that info gets released right around the start of production, often the same day.

MotorTrend just tested the ATS-V (actually two of them). Here are the numbers:

Manual Coupe: 0-60 4.2 sec, 1/4mile 12.6 @ 114.2 (Curb Weight 3754 lbs.)
Auto Sedan: 0-60 3.7 sec, 1/4mile 12.1 @ 116.2 (Curb Weight 3788 lbs.)

The ATS-V has the LF4 engine with 464 HP and 445 lbfttq

Your numbers seem close, but I think we might see a better 0-60 time than 4.2 for the auto. Only time will tell...

My bad guys, when I read that, I was thinking dyno numbers, which I would expect to be nearly the same.

I think the estimates you are seeing above are probably pretty close to where the final numbers will lie.

I think the Camaro will be about 300lbs heavier, option for option. Isn't a loaded stingray about 3450?

I think it will be close to the Stingray, 0-60 probably 3.9 - 4.0. Didn't Mark Reuss say the SS would be very similar to the current ZL1 in almost every aspect? The ZL1 is like 3.9 with the auto, and not especially with the newer A8, I am thinking he could be right.
