I think if you do a search on spoilers vs wings, you will understand why Chevy went with the wing instead of the spoiler for the SS. When it comes to the SS, Chevy wanted the best possible performance for it, and the results netted faster times than the current 1LE. Now it makes me wonder when they make the new SS/1LE, if it's gonna be faster than the current ZL1 or Z28. I like where Chevy is headed.

I made this post for a very specific reason. I know I'm not the only person who thinks the wing looks like a turd on a sidewalk on a hot summer's day. I am hoping that the thread runs long and that Chevy and the aftermarket businesses take note and have spoiler options available for those who don't want to wash their car with a rag wrapped around a fly swatter and want something other than a wing that has all the appeal of a fat chick in yoga pants. As for performance, I guess we can ask NASCAR how their wing worked out

Lol I feel like I'm the only person who actually likes the wing and feel it fits the car. But everyone has their own opinions and I'm sure they will have an option for ppl who want a different spoiler/wing or none at all.

I'd prefer an option for spoiler delete. I liked how clean it looked without it on Chazcron's rendering and am weary of cleaning a wing after 11 years of GTO ownership.
OP went a little overboard

How many of you are going to be taking your car to the track regularly and pushing your car to the absolute limit where you'd need the extra downforce?
Yeah, this argument has been made before but it's a strong one… In the pros vs cons of this spoiler design, the con of the ugly look outweighs the pro of the performance. If they don't offer another option at launch, they will by the 2017 model year. Mark my words. |

exactly! it doesn't make sense to buy a PERFORMANCE car if you don't go for it.
The difference are in the details,

Looking at the 5th gen z/28 I can't help but hope they offer a spoiler like that instead of this tacked on looking horrible piece .

Well, from what I can tell, the "Stanchion spoiler" is standard on 1SS and 2SS....
The 1LT and 2LT come standard with no spoiler, a lip spoiler with the RS package... (There is no RS package for the SS models).... The playbook did not mention anything about a 1LT or 2LT convertible, but pics show it with an SS spoiler. No mention of a spoiler delete for the SS. ...And it shows a three post stanchion....(but we have also seen two post stanchions)... |

it's an LT-RS. we said at the time.
the SS has a wing to be different. the 5thgen had 3 different spoilers on the SS, the new RS has a regular spoiler. i don't think the wing supplies much downforce that a spoiler wouldn't. what does the Z/28 have? a spoiler. what does the Z51 Corvette have? a spoiler. |
