As someone who's always been a "car guy" and never married to any make / model, this thread is great! Even more so that I'm heavily leaning towards picking up a Camaro next year, nice to learn some of the history. I used to date a girl who lived down the street from where Scuncio dealer was off Rte 44 in RI. RI really had it going on between Scuncio Camaro's and Tasca Ford doing Mustang's!

Depends on how you consider it, but the 1997 SS LT4 was a collaboration with SLP, but sold through normal GM dealers. They built just over 100 (but just one year).

There is a Type LT on the second gen somewhere in there..I believe it came after the last Z and represented the best engine option at the time. I think the badge was on the back sail C pillar

post 37 altered. this was a hardtop pace car, and the code for the car was Z10, not Z11 as the convertibles were coded.
A friend of mine rebuilt one of the original 67 pace cars back in the late 90s. they were extremely rare.

In'77, the LT was the upscale luxury Camaro and same engines as the other Camaros. I think it was about 500 more than the plain ones. lot of money then!!
