I had a very bad accident in my first car a Genesis Coupe severe total loss. The EMS said that if i wasn't wearing my seatbelt I would have died instantly. I only had some back pain for about 2 months but that was it walked away without a scratch. Don't be stupid buckle up.

Seatbelts are so advanced now a days they have a little explosive charge that gives the seatbelt a little room in a accident so the pressure to your spine and neck are reduced

If you can't bother to put your seatbelt on during your short trip errands, then might as well not bother to drive at all.

Please buckle up. Its the one and only silencing device for that chime.

I have to move the car in the driveway sometimes and I don't bother wearing the belt in that instance. Also I can't start the car with the door open without the thing going off. Adding an amplifier will make the noise much louder.

I don't bother with my seatbelt when I am doing frequent

The best way to silence your seatbelt nag is a head injury.

Actually the opposite. The charges cinch the seat belt tight. They are called pre-tensioners.

Now there used to be some belt systems that had a loop sewn in that would grab you first and then at a prescribed load release/tear so you could then ride the crash in the airbag, but that was years ago. I don't think anyone does that anymore.

Now, you want your belts to engage as soon as possible so they pull you tight as soon as possible.

People who don't wear their seatbelt doesn't deserve their driver license.

But guys, do you think the OP is still reading all of this? He got what he wanted (all those links to the seatbelt clips). I think we're wasting our time telling him what is common sense.

And the material is designed to stretch a bit under that sort of load, right? I remember reading that somewhere. The pre-tensioner charger renders the ratchet useless and the stretch makes the actual belt useless after an accident.

There is a bit of stretch in the belt. But what is bad is the split second it takes your body to engage a loose fitting belt.

Remember it isn't the first impact that kills you......it's the second.

I don't mind wearing mine all the time, (and I do) I just wish the darn beeping would wait 5 seconds or so after starting the car BEFORE beeping to tell you to buckle up.

Give me a chance darn it, to buckle up before nagging me.

It just isnt worth it. It literally takes seconds to put on and take off. Im in and out of my truck dozens of times a day. It adds no inconvenience at all to my day.

That video is horrific, if that does not reinforce why you should wear your seat belt, nothing will

Racing has creating some good habits. First thing I do after turning on the car is to clip the belt in, and then cinch it tight. And I completely and utterly refuse to tilt the seat back any more than I need for my neck to be comfortable. None of this "gansta' rollin'" nonsense.
