Where to change oil?

I am just about due for my first oil change, outside of the price is there any benefit of a dealership oil change, over any other oil change shop? I don't have a oil catch pan or way to dispose of the oil otherwise I would just do it my self.

I'm pretty sure you can bring old oil to all the autopart stores. And since that's probably where you'd get your new oil from, you can pick up a catch pan while you're at it. If you do get one, make sure it will hold 8 quarts or more.

I go to my local automotive center with trusted mechanics who I know personally and bring them my own 9 quarts of Mobile 1 and watch them pour it in.

I believe Walmart, Autozone, and a few other places allow you to bring back your used oil. Buy one large enough to hold the used oil and then fill your engine back up. Use the empty containers to pour the oil back in and take those back to the store.

Where I live our township collects hazardous materials like oil, paints, etc and recycles them. Check with your local city or county and see if they have a program like that. Probably simpler to just bring it back to one of the stores that accepts used oil.

I prefer knowing that it is done right and I get what I paid for. I've always changed my own oil.

It takes 8.9 so they pour a tad from the 9th quart.

No, it's 8 quarts with the filter for the L99 and LS3. Page 12-2 in the owner's manual.

6 Qts. for the V6.

Ohh my bad, they pour 7 and 3/4 to not overfill. That's right. So it's 8 quarts, not 9. In 2 years I have only had one oil change on mine.
