02BlueSS - First Shakedown Passes in 9's..

Took out Paul's (02bluess) car today to the track. While he is stuck snowed in, we were having some fun with his ride and dialing it in. We left it on low shift points, 6600rpm (Final shift point be in the 7-7100 range) @ 18psi. We drove it to the track on the MT's, aired them down first pass was a 10.3 @ 137 with low timing & rich (This is how we like to start track tuning nice and safe), second hit was a 10.07 @ 137, then 9.88 @ 141, 9.85 @ 142, 9.92 @ 141. 60's were not ideal, a couple of high 1.5x and a 1.62 (On the best pass), converter is just way too tight and flashing at 3200 which is way too low on this combination. If the 60's were in the 1.4x range where they should be we had a 9.5 pass on the low boost/shift points, so we were very happy all day.

Next time out we'll raise the shift points, add a degree or two of timing and let it eat.

Combination:

2010 Camaro SS
- FSP 417ci built by LRB Performance; PRC CNC S3 Heads, Hydraulic Roller Cam, Trunion'd LS3 Rockers, R&R Billet Steel Rods, Manley Custom Pistons, Callies Dragonslayer Crankshaft, 10.7:1 C/R
- ECS SC-YSI Camaro Kit - 10Rib, 2.75 Upper, 7.9 Lower
- DSS 9" IRS Conversion Kit, 3.70 Gears, Trutrac Posi, 1400HP Axles, Alum DS
- RPM Transmissions 4L80E, PCS Controller
- ARH 2" Longtube Headers, ARH 3x3 X-Pipe w/ ARH Street Mufflers
- Alky Control Dual Methanol Setup
- Injector Dynamics ID-1000 Injectors
- Squash Performance Dual 400 Walbro System w/ FSP Plumbing for stock rails
- Pfadt Trailing Arms, Toe Rods, Subframe Bushings, Lowering Springs (Stock Shocks)

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same.
Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.
I can't wait for my next
Track fix.

Woo hoo, been a long time coming!!!

Huge thanks to Matt, Rodney and the FSP crew - they really pulled out all the stops getting the car back together and down the track!! Can't say enough about those guys!!! Also thanks to Bad Dad for letting the guys borrow his front skinnies - I usually roll on front 20's with a nice big contact patch so I was hoping Matt would have enough room to slow that 4200lb+ pig down on the big end. I'm sure it was a white knuckler the first time!

Can't wait to get down there in a few weeks and take her down the track myself before I drive 1200 miles home to Illinois!! First time I've let someone else take my car down the track so you know I must trust 'em lol

Matt should have her down the track again within the next week or so - keep your eye out for more slips

BTW we got 2 more inches of snow here today, but DA was great lol

Paul...

Great Job as usual Matt! Paul, congratulations on the 9 sec pass! I remember when we we're down last time at the track rental, glad it worked out....

I'm not sure Matt cares about numbers on the dyno (neither do I), he uses it for tuning, track numbers matter most, I don't have any idea what my car makes when Matt worked on it but I know it's running significantly stronger than it did before and I ran mid 10's, so I am hoping to test it out soon with good tires!

Again, congratulations to Paul and FSP!

I agree Jay he uses that stingy dyno to make these cars work and gets them safe and fat his real dyno is the track...... and that's the number we are chasing

Couldn't agree more... I wanted a high 9-sec, full weight, daily drivable car and FSP delivered! Track times are what matter to me!!
