2017 Camaro 2SS seat mod (Recline further)

So, today I tried the seat mod on my 2SS by drilling out the pin which stops the motor from reclining all the way back for a more comfortable sitting position, especially on longer road trips. I tried to follow this post the best I could,
http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464700

Anyhow, I was able to drill out the pin on the left side of the seat. Here are a few photos of the removal:

Here is an image of the pin:

So the pin on the left is removed. I know there is a pin on the right side of the seat aswell. My seat still will not recline past the normal 92 degree mark. I really dont want to do a seat removal to get to the other pin. I tried to push on my seat with a TON of force to break the pin free on the left but it wont budge.

Has anyone tried this on the 2017? What are my options?

were you pressing the recline button while you were leaning back with all your weight?

I was trying my best, I felt like I was going to break the seat, I had my foot pressing on the ground really pushing hard! I noticed you have a 2016, does my pin look like it was in the same spot as yours? Maybe the 2017 has a stronger pin. ugg I feel like im going to break something pushing to hard. What's your secret to get this to work? Id really hate to rip my seat out tomorrow.

Apparently they used the same seats as the convertible in our coups. And the convertible was already designed to not go past 92 degrees. It might have been just a lazy part on chevys side to save money. Either way, the recline sucks, and im going to get this pin out! lol

The pin looked the same. I had to push hard...like bouncing on it.

You drilled out the wrong pin. The one you wanted is under what looks like a a soldered on area to the right of it. That looks like the original stopped before chevy had another thrown in.

I highlighted where it is. On my car I had to drill out both sides. I could not push past the with just the one drilled out like some others. Seat removal is really easy though.

I'm having the same issue - I posted another tread about this today. Would you mind posting more pics after you take the seat out to complete the job? Thanks.

Why do you need it to recline further?

Which pin did I drill out? ahh hope I didn't break anything (or did they add two pins to the 2017 that need removed?). Ill go out now and try to drill the second pin you suggested. I tried to remove the seat today but I had no luck, I was using a normal torque wrench and gave it all my might. Would not budge. I didn't want to strip it out so I stopped (might have to take it to a shop to get them to take it out.).

Finally got it to work! I drilled out the other pin and pushed back hard on the seat and the other side popped out! I now LOVE my camaro. I felt so uncomfortable driving around before (I'm a leaner! lol), and it really bothered me.

Here are some pics, the sear leans ALL the way back now.

Seat leaning: Plastic guard is off in the pic, no its not broken.

Drill Holes:

When attempting this be very careful with the drill. I knicked some of the plastic in my car not being as careful as I should. You don't notice it unless you look for it in person. but still BE CAREFUL.

If anyone knows the part number or name of the part I knicked (that plastic foot molding?) let me know, It just pops right off (no screws), VERY easy to replace.. Stupid me.

Congratulations....this thread showed where to drill, but the pics got removed...lol...

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...=444769&page=4

The 6thGen ZL1 and 1LE Recaro seats fully recline....All 5th gens fully recline....Why all the 6th Gens don't fully recline is a mystery....

Congrats again on making it the way you want it, and how it should have been to begin with....

Here's yours....Nice job....
