Confirm that this Dexos2 5W-40 Motul 8100 X-Clean is good for Track and Street

There seem to be so many threads indicating that it is hard to find a Dexos2 0W-40 or 5W-40 oil that meets both street specs as well as the High-Performance/TrackPrep Guides.

I seem to have no problems finding them readily on Amazon, but am doubting myself, based on the comments here. Can someone confirm that the oil below is good to go for street and track for a 2018 SS-1LE?

It’s the only oil I have used in my ‘17 1LE.

I have 15,000 miles, 150+ AutoX runs, and about 20 Track days.

Every change has gone to Blackstone and they have all been great.

Yes that oil is good for the street and track. It has the Dexos2 certification.

Valvoline mst as specified in the Owners’s manual is readily available at my local Napa and often on sale for about $5.50 qt which is much cheaper than I’ve seen Motuls go for.

+1. No oil consumption either!

Would the dealers do the oil change using Motul if I buy/bring it to them? I'm challenged to do oil changes myself (live in Condo with a bunch of rules).

Yes but be careful with dealers, they might fill your car up with bullk oil anyways and someone there will take your oil home, happens often.

I'd find a reputable shop then at least usually you can watch.

I recently got delivery of my 1SS 1LE and also plan to use the Motul 8100 X-Clean. It is apparently top notch stuff.

There is some Oil Testing "Maniac" from Poland, whom I watch videos and read summaries of.
Have a look here to see more and make sure you read the comments / text:

and here:

And here:

Here is a link to the table with all oils he tested and his findings:

I hope you find this useful...

Just remember that dexos2 is specified as having more heavy metals and other additives that are known to degrade catalytic converter life. The new recommendation for the 0w40 is in my opinion only for the specific Mobil 1 listed...not all dexos2 oils. If you are going to run a dexos2 oil full time I would look at running a true performance oil; you're going to hurt the cats...but you'll get better protection along the way. Just my .02

I run the Motul oil in my 2016 SS. I have about 8 track days on the car to date (2 more later this month). I have also taken a 4000+ mile road trip. No oil consumption in the 16,500 miles on the car. The car is a lease so I am not too concerned about the cats.

Seems that the 8100-Xclean proves itself in the real-world.
How often do you change the oil?
Which filter do you use: AC-D PF64 ?

That is not correct. The recommendation in the 2018 Camaro High Performance Owners Manual Supplement is to use Dexos2 0W40 or 5W40. It makes no mention of Mobil 1 or any other brand.

If Dexos2 0/5W40 is not available, two alternatives are mentined. And only one of those (less desirable alternatives - Mobil 1 15W50 - is there a need to switch oils after the track event. Dexos2 0/5W40 is by implication OK to keep being used on the street as well.

Below is the exact text from the manual:
