So, did you have any mechanical issues with the Z4 or did you just want to keep it under warranty? I wonder how much an extended warranty would be on the Chevy?

The only mechanical issue I was ever made aware of was an oil leak they discovered on an annual maintenance check. Apparently, it was leaking oil around one of the spark plugs. Since the dealer had been taking care of everything, I never would've known until it became an actual problem, at some point down the road. They discovered it, setup a loaner, and replaced the valve cover gasket and I forget what else, all under the existing warranty / maintenance plan.

After that, though, I became more curious of the cost of routine maintenance, repairs, etc., which led to me getting gun-shy about having to foot the bill for any un-covered items.

Add in that I tend to trade vehicles every 3 years or so and everything just lined up for trading for the 2SS Fifty.

I’ve only driven a camaro ss for the 4 days that I rented one, but I feel like because I never got used to anything it puts me in a better perspective

These aren’t the best vehicles to cross shop.

The camaro is pretty much a balls the the wall sports car. It’s small inside, ingress and egress is more difficult, cargo space is small, and it’s a complete ****ing animal of a car. I couldn’t believe how much more “sports car” and less “DD” it was from my mustang. The whole time I was driving it I was thinking, what’s the point of the corvette.

The bmw is a DD with some balls.

You can’t compare the two. If you need this for daily life and need some utility and comfort, the bmw.

If you just want to have a blast every time you get behind the wheel, the camaro.

Have you looked at the Chevrolet SS Sport Sedan?

I bought my '16 2SS new. I have the upgraded NAV and sound system. I do not have a sunroof (IMO ruins the lines of the double Mohawk). I have the 6M, NPP and MRC. I have only driven the car ~16,400 miles. I have not had any real issues with the car and mine has lived a harder life than many. I am on new rotors and brakes and my third set of tires. I was bitten by a rat and I'm infected with the trackus rattus virus.

Other than the tires and brakes, the car is bone stock.

FYI - I have owned a long line of BMWs, a couple of Audis and 8 or 9 Jaguars.

Bling spots and visibility are a non issue. I was super worried, based on all the comments on how poor visibility was and how claustrophobic it is. I have 550mi on my SS 1LE over 10 days, and don't see any issues with visibility, the outside rear view mirrors are actually great. Interior one is enough to see what is far and behind you as you drive forwards. In reverse, there is an awesome camera.

And to think that I almost got dissuaded from buying this car because of the "visibility" issue!!!!

The only issue that I have - coming from a C7 Z51 - is that I feel like I'm sitting too high

I'm 210 lbs 6.0 - love it. My gf is 105 lbs and 5.4 - she has no prob driving it (well, other than she is scared to drive a stick LOL)

Blind Spots are no problem if you have the 2SS with blind spot monitoring...the system in these cars is FANTASTIC and I have very high confidence in it.

After a lifetime of owning U.S. V8 manual transmission cars, I switched to a BMW M235i in 2015. After 3 years with the BMW, I am looking to go back to American muscle - either a Camaro 2SS 1LE or a Mustang GT PP2.

This is the list of cars I went through:

1974 Camaro Z28
1971 Olds 4-4-2 W-30
1965 Corvette 396 roadster
1980 Camaro Z28 (new)
1984 Camaro Z28 L69 (new)
1987 Mustang GT
1995 Mustang GT
2005 Mustang GT (new)

The M235i has the N55 3.0 turbo 6 with a special factory tune rated at 320/330 hp/torque. It's essentially the same as the B58 engine in the 340i. It's a sweet engine for sure, and has a flat torque curve from 1400 up to almost 5000 rpm. And for icing on the cake, mine averages 22 mpg in fairly hard driving, no highway.

The BMW is all I could ask for in terms of quality, luxury, and comfort. I loved all the cars I owned previously, but they were nowhere near the quality of the M235i, inside or out.

The problem for me is that I test drove a Camaro 2SS. In fact, I test drove 2 different ones. And fell in love. My BMW is sterile and boring in comparison. The Camaro was like a race car. It has the rumble. The beefiness of the shifter.

The Camaro is not perfect. It's big. It's kind of crazy looking. And yes, I'll say it, there probably is no mainstream car with worse outward visibility.

But it's the closest thing to a race car you're going to get in its price segment. And I'm hoping to have one in the next couple of months!
