So, upgrading the fuel system with LT4 components and add a cam. Why wouldn’t that also be the time to add drop in pistons/rods? I am shocked that when getting inside the motor more people wouldn’t spend the extra $1000 for drop in pistons. What am I missing?
Since it's my car, I'll explain. Short answer is back when this was done, there was no drop in kit available. It's also not just $1k, drop in kit or not. Some builders won't just literally drop the pistons in, they do a lot more manual work. So when you add up everything, the cost difference wasn't that big between doing that and building a new motor. Also considering how good Ted is at tuning, I rolled the dice and it all worked out. I've got almost 20k miles and all is well. However now that the kit is out, if I were to do it all over again, I would've gone with the kit.

2 weeks ago we ran the 80 mm 11.2 PSI pulley E-85 combo and made 726 RWHP 701 RWTQ but fuel pressure was dropping at 6400 RPM along with power.

Further testing last Friday with E-85 and larger 85 mm 9.2 PSI pulley revealed more power on the LT4 Fuel system components and fuel pressure is holding steady to 6800 rpm.

If you are willing to ship me the car I would be happy to write you an estimate for the whole job.

Believe me, I would be happy to do that, but looking at the distance between us, I think shipping alone would cost a couple thousand $.

It is more common than you might think. What you spend in shipping you will save on Stress and cost to do it twice.

Ted.

Laynlo,

Now you will have a chance to run this setup at the track since I am doing the same thing...I just need to borrow you as a jockey.

I will probably have DR’s soon enough.

My buddy had a death in the family so we were delayed. We have the rack space open this coming weekend and I am expecting we will get it started on Thursday.

I can’t wait to go through the process. I will take pictures and maybe start a new thread to walk through the tuning experience Ted.

Ted, what is the difference between the power you achieved on the car in this thread and the next thread where you were at 750whp. It looks to be the same setup. Did you just run the smaller pulley and e60 instead of e85?

They were done about a year apart.
