Adding ZL1 spoiler to factory spoiler-less car
Hey guys, first post and sorry if its been answered before but I did a search beforehand but wasn't able to get too specific with the searches.
I just got a ZL1 spoiler and want to add it to my factory spoiler-less car. Before I put holes in my trunk lid, would it be safe or advisable to use something like 3M double-sided tape on something like this? Or should I go ahead and drill the holes? Any advice is appreciated! |

From my experience trying to remove my stock SS spoiler I would say if you use whatever tape GM used you'll be fine. After removing all the bolts I spent maybe 30-45 minutes trying to pry the spoiler off and damn near bent my trunk lid.

Here's how to get to spoiler off, if taped on. Go to Walmart and get some fishing BRAID, not regular fishing line. Braid is very sharp and will actually cut your fingers. Get a couple popsicle sticks , wrap it around and make a saw of it and start left to right. I've done two spoilers this way, and I can get them off in 15 minutes, the braid cuts right through the tape.… Get 30 pound braid.
Tape can fail, I'd put in at least a couple bolts, one in the middle and one on each end. |
