Seems more likely that the 2016 vette would see an increase in power rather than the gen 6 coming out with Tri-Y's and a detuned LT1.

Any chance the vette gets the 500hp 4.5L twin turbo? Or maybe there is more power left in the LT1?

It would not surprise me at all if the vette got a hp bump within the next 1-2 years. Seems to be a trend. Corvette team is always improving.

No. The Corvette can't fit twin turbos or a dual overhead cam engine in the engine bay.

I didn't think it could fit either but I read an article a while back that mentioned it as a possibility for 2016. I guess the author was just blowing smoke.

No, with the tight fit, of the LT1, in the Alpha engine bay, all will have the Tri-Y headers, per the GM info released...

for the release year I would say that the Camaro would be less than the Vet... IF the Vet gets a boost in power then MAYBE the Cam will in following years...

I also think that GM will make the z28 the new SS like in the old days with about 440-450hp... then take the SS and make it the new Track version of the z28 like the 1LE with a small boost in power of maybe 20 or 30hp and leave the ZL1 at the top with the LT4

That doesn't even make sense. There is no reason to mix up the line up again. They have a solid line up established.

Why would they make the 6th generation Z28 have less power than the outgoing 5th gen? And reduce the Z28's current status? It currently comes with an LS7 and carbon ceramic brakes, not to mention many other track focused features. And as many have stated, what would be the point of developing the tri-y exhaust manifolds to come out making LESS power? If they didn't care or wanted a loss then they could've just dropped in the current LT1 and let the difference in intake and exhaust take its toll. Or detune it via the ECU as someone suggested.

What you're suggesting doesn't make any sense.

back in the 60's and 70's the line up was z28 and then the SS was above that, had better suspension, more power, brakes, etc...

WHAT IF... they go back to that... make the current SS the new z28 with 440-450hp, Make the SS the track version (now the 1LE) with just a bit more power and keep the ZL1 at the top of the food chain.

Makes about as much sense as all of you thinking that GM will put more HP in the Camaro than the Vet.... it's ridiculous!! No Camaro has ever had more hp on paper than the Vet(stock for stock, entry level)... it just doesn't make sense to do that... that would take Vets credibility away as being the big man on campus.... it just doesn't make sense y'all.

We shall see though in 24 days

Its not the 60s or 70s anymore. What you suggested would only make sense if GM was like let's do some random shit and confuse people. They will build on the success of the 5th gen and keep the same line up that people have become accustomed to over the past several years.

Lol that's funny.

But if I were a betting man I'd say it will have 5 hp less than the Vette. 450 standard and 455 with dual mode exhaust. Just based off typical gm in the past. This is a situation where I would love to be wrong.

BUT.... the tri-y headers and gms direction with the camaro lately (doing their own thing example z28) has me holding some slight hope for 460 hp plus.
