.

I read once that letting a car warm up for 1 minute before you move it will double the life of the engine so I do. Unless its a diesel, then it's longer.

The debate about what's best continues...

What I do know is that there is a difference in how the car feels when I warm it up, and when I don't. I've felt the same from my previous 4th gens. Everything else will warm up once I take off - whether I take off upon igniting, or spend 3-5 minutes warming it up... the engine I think likes waking up and not having to immediately put a load on it.

Mine sits in my attached garage, and given Houston mild winters, its usually 60F or so in the garage when its 30F outside in the mornings... so I hit remote start in the living room while I gather my stuff for work, and listen to all my barware on my shelves vibrate and rattle (next door neighbor mentioned one day that when I start my car in the mornings it vibrates the pics on her living room wall haha), then load up the car, back it out of the garage, and idle out of the neighborhood to avoid ticking off the neighbors...once im out of the neighborhood, the car is usually up to temp, so then its time to romp on it a little... I try not to redline it until its up to operating temp.

I don't drive mine in the winter but the other 8 months I usually let it idle down then punch it. heck don't even start it unless it is at least 32 degrees.

I have never let any of my cars warm up and have never had issues. Same thing for my Camaro.

I wait until the engine comes down from high idle. Then I drive mildly until it warms up properly.
