No flack. Just the real world we live in today.

And I was raised like you; often in the woods playing with friends, riding bikes on busy highways, etc.

But 2016 is a far different world these days, especially if you live in suburbia. I certainly meant no disrespect to the OP.

Ok I just tested this... cranked it without remote start with me in the car with the fob... got out and moved both fobs deep inside the house, get back in the car and it gives me ONE warning about the fob being missing. I then proceed to just back out of my driveway and sit there a sec and not another warning. lol.

Maybe it needs to be amped up a bit...

So has anyone actually checked to see if there is no warning that pops up? I've had 4 cars with keyless start and all 4 of them have yelled at me if I didn't have the key as I drove away. I can't imagine there is no warning in the Camaro.

EDIT: Whis just beat me to it. So it gives you one warning chime, but does the warning dissapear from the center display or does it still at least tell you on the center display that the key is out of range until you clear the message?

It seemed to sit there but I put it in reverse to see what it would do, camera comes up, back up, put it back in park and warning still gone

The car would have given you a "Key/Fob not detected" message in your DIC. Also for those of you that do not have "Remote Link" App you are missing a huge part of the GM experience . This app will let you lock/unlock the car, honk horn/lights and remotely start the car, from anywhere on the planet with your smart phone. This would let you in the car without the fob.

I dont take it as flack from raven87 actually I dont take it as anything. I was the same way as child playing and my boys are the same now. If I'm a bad person for leaving my boys in the car with the top down for 2 minutes while I change then I'm fine with being bad.
It was a learning experience, not to not leave my two boys in the car while I change but to not leave the FOB in the house next time I change.
Suzook my boys found it funny as well I don't think they would have found it as funny if I was 50 miles away.

Yikes, I know when I did something similar with my Vette, when I pushed the Start/Stop button to turn off the car it didn't turn off, rather it stayed running and brought up a warning that said there was no fob in the car and was I sure I wanted to turn it off. Did you get any kind of warning when you tried to turn it off?

My STI that I had would sound an alarm as well as an icon on the dash once the fob was removed from the car.

You can start the car via Remote Link, but I don't think it will let you put it in gear and drive without the fob on board...correct?

I do wonder if On Star couldn't have helped in that situation though.

I wish there was a setting that would just turn the car off if the fob left the car after a certain distance.

That would be extremely dangerous and a sure fire way for GM to have a lawsuit. It's better to try and defend a suit from being stuck at Taco Bell 5 miles from your house than defend a suit that your car shut off in traffic and someone ended up dead.
