Android auto
I purchased a used 2016 1SS. And talked to the dealership about installing. Android auto in the car it has Apple car play now and they said that there would be a charge of $100.00 to do this because GM isn't offering it for free anymore is the dealership trying to get one over on me or has this changed also is it worth it to have this done ?

It's definitely worth it if you don't have navigation. And it'll be more worth it when Google enables the Waze app on Android Auto, which is planned (and now in beta testing).

Yes, it is a good feature, so you can do things like display google maps and waze on the car's big screen.
Maybe shop around to dealers and see if one will do it for less. I don't think it takes that long to do.

I don't understand how dealers are charging for an update to the Mylink system that is still under warranty! They pulled that crap with my parents Equinox a couple of years ago, vehicle was not old, few months, and the CEL came on, forgot the reason they found, but they charged them to reset the light, no repair was needed. My dad argued with them, but they insisted that was not covered under warranty to just reset the light. I would have left and not paid if it were me.

My local dealership initially wouldn't update mine. They told me that it should've been done at the dealer my vehicle came from because they were paid by GM to do it already. Apparently it was looked over.
I called GM's customer support line from the parking lot. The young lady on the phone asked to speak to the service writer via my phone's speaker. After he was done spouting off, she asked me to take it off speaker and told me he's not helpful and to ask for the service manager. After a brief conversation with the manager, I finally got it done free of charge. Granted this was back in November 2016, but I would still give it a shot because someone was paid to do it. |
