I'm pretty sure that's exactly what this thread was about.

Convertible vs Coupe and what made you choose one over another. Hence my response.

There is a tiny bit of flex but it's really minute and not something to worry about and interfere with your buying process.

I've owned coupes and verts from many manufacturers over the years and this is nicely designed, up with the Germans on quality and clearly the chassis was designed with a Vert in mind as it feels very rigid

This is encouraging. My '12 2SS had horrible top issues but i think GM learned from the mistakes and improved. In my research, I haven't seen many issue with the c6's. Dealing with the dealers now. I.Hate.Buying.Cars.

Agree completely! Very similar chassis stiffness to a C6, or a recent BMW convertible. Not quite up to my M5, which is my daily driver - but it's very close honestly. And that's a very well built sedan.

Hello,

My vert rides and drives better than any car that I've ever owned. If I were going racing, then I'd have chosen the hardtop. I am not, so I didn't. The rigidity is great, regardless. There's a good bit more bracing on the verts as well.

Since the Mighty HABU is a road car, it's better on the streets than it has a need to be and for me, that's more than good enough.

Kindest,

Donner

This is not completely true - it doesn't disable itself. I do mine every time I wash it so I can dry out the bottom of the hard cover and the water channels under it. The top does go into a safety state that will either lower the soft top all the way into the truck or lower the back window back down (depending on the position of the top when you interrupted the cycle). This is to prevent damage to the hydraulics. You can restart the cycle at any point.

From the manual:

"Partial Top Cycling If the convertible top operation is stopped before completion, the top will temporarily hold its position. If the ignition is in ACC/ ACCESSORY or ON/RUN, the top will be held for up to five minutes, then pulse down. If the vehicle is moving or off, the amount of time will vary from a few seconds to about a minute. Beeps and DIC messages will e displayed before the top will move. When this occurs, immediately finish the convertible top operation by pressing M again until it completes. If the top cannot be secured, keep clear if the top components. In some conditions the top may move quickly. Do not drive with the convertible top in an unsecured position. The top components may move unexpectedly. In some cases the top may not be able to be power operated. If this occurs, follow the DIC messages displayed. If the tonneau cover is not secured and latched, and the vehicle is moving above 10 km/h (6 mph), the tonneau cover may automatically move to a stable position."

Little to no flex. You can jack up one corner and open the doors without any door droop at all. I had a Lebaron vert years ago that, if you jacked a corner up with the door open you would not get it closed.

Interesting. I think the exact opposite. Previous car was a 13 Gen 5 Coupe which I thought looked immensely better than the 'vert. Not so, IMHO, on the Gen 6. To each their own.

I rented a 16' convertible SS with my wife to drive through the Florida keys. I found it more fun than my 16' 1SS A8 coupe I had at the time. It didn't seem any slower despite the weight difference.
The trunk space was the worst I've ever seen, but you can always throw stuff in the back seats.

Yep, the trunk space with the top down is the major down-side to the gen6 vert. Other than that, Chevy did an awesome job with the car. Extra X-bracing under the car and strut tower braces along with the improvements in the chassis of the gen6 car in general make the vert just as stiff as the coupe based on my test drives between the two. I picked the vert and am very happy I did!
