Wonder if anyone whines about the swoosh on Nike. Or MJ outline on Air Jordans. Or Apple on Apple products...

Right before the January 1953 Corvette introduction, it was noted it was against the law to use the American flag on logos, so they came up with a nod to Louis Chevrolet's heritage with the fleur-de-lis and popped that as well as the bowtie on the replacement flagged logo. You can find this emblem residing at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY.

Revised emblem:

Thanks!!!

BTW the bowtie is on the vette. It's in the middle of the flap on the right side as you are looking at the crossed flags.

I actually rather like it, which is why I chose not to mod at all. It may be that I think it goes well with my VR Camaro. Red + Gold = quite nice I think.

Even though the Corvette has it's own distinctive logo, the "bowtie" is on the Vet. It's incorporated into the flag design, just not as noticeable:

I like my bowties... painted black.

Chrome...ok.
Gold reflective... don't think so.

But I still just painted the entire thing matte black. Still gotta represent, just not so discolored

I like them just huge gold ones on a grey and black car are an eyesore to me; getting blacked out.

I can't do without the bowtie, it has to stay at least on the back! I will only remove it up front when I get a new grill. In the meantime, I spiced my front bowtie up with some plastidip! And soon it will be CFM!

I agree with you that it stands out a lot, but I'd rather it be there than nothing at all. At least if the car is factory. I can't imagine a stock camaro without the front bowtie and ESPECIALLY the back bowtie.
