Preventing Door Dings
I've searched the threads as best as I can, but I can't find an answer to my question. Are the Camaro doors magnetic? I've found a product that I can attach to the doors to try and prevent other people slamming their doors into mine and dinging the door (the doorfender). However, it uses magnets.
Does anyone know if the doors are magnetic? If not, does anyone know of anything I can use to attach to the side of the car to help prevent dings. I live in a townhouse with public parking. My neighbors have a small daughter who likes to fling the car door open. She's already damaged my minivan door. I don't want her breathing on my Camaro. Thanks in advance.

The doors are metal so magnets should stick.
I'd just find somewhere else to park than continually stick magnets to the side of my car and scratch up the paint. |

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I know it sounded like a stupid question, but some people I know say that their cars are not magnetic. I would LOVE to find another place to park, but my townhouse community's parking lot looks like a mall at Christmas. There is no other place. I could hope for better neighbors, but I don't think that will happen.

I just part farther away and walk a little more. Usually, it doesn't cost but another minute or so, and I waste less time driving around the front of the store trying to find a spot. Usually, someone with a huge SUV stuffs it into a place it doesn't fit, right next to my car.

No cars that I'm aware of have magnets in the doors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetism You meant to simply ask if the doors are steel, which is made of iron. A magnetic field is attracted to iron. Some doors are plastic (older Saturns), Fiberglass (Corvette) or aluminum with steel reinforcements. None of them would be affected in a magnetic field. Camaro's doors are steel, which most cars are as well.

Seriously. as long as they are made out of steel (not stainless or any noferrous metal) they will be magnetic...Now if the door skins are aluminum a Magnet won't stick... I know the Hood is supposed to be aluminum but I haven't heard about the doors...

I have been thinking about this, the wal-mart is horrible here and the wind in Oklahoma is horrible. someone park beside you and the wind will blow their door open and it slam into the side of your car, or the wind will blow a cart into your car. i have been thinking about getting a Honda or something from craigslist.com. And take that the places i don’t want to take a 30,000 car.

That first door ding is always the most painful. You should come to the realization that eventually you will get a door ding in your beloved Camaro, assuming it will be your daily driver. There are a whole lot of people out there who do not care about cars, let alone your car. I do my best to park out in BFE, but occasionally there is always some "person" who will park right next to me even though they could have easily left 1 or 2 spaces between us. You eventually are likely to get nicks, chips, scrapes, curb rash, cracked windshield, tint installer nicking a piece of the interior with a razor blade, etc. and that's just the way it is, unless you "zip lock" your car and just look at it. Even then, mother nature could cause a tree to slam through your garage, flooding, etc. that could cause your insurance to total your Camaro.

I haven't seen that one before!!! Thanks! And thank Goodness they found a cure for that syndrome; it always made me feel cheap It's no wonder Camaro has gained some weight. Metal doors, fenders, hood (except the SS models), roof, and IRS. It just gives me a feeling of higher quality, for whatever reason. I guess I just relate plastic panels to Saturns of yesteryear.
