Tubular k member, front cradle

I have a shop that has been building suspension systems for the cyclone, typhoon, and grand national markets since about 2002 that's wanting to get into the 5th gen market. The part they want to start with is a chromoly tubular front cradle. All they are looking for at this time is interest not commitment.

The ball park pricing on this is expected to be between $1200 and $1500

I would buy a front cradle when one comes available. $1200 seems a little low I was looking to buy just the cradle from another company and they would only sell the entire front assembly 6K+.

I'm in for a front cradle BUT have whatever shop that's building it design a way to be able to pull the oil pan. Have a removable brace or something. I know our shop was going to start designing one that's more affordable than the 3000 dollar one offered now. I guess when you're the only one that offers it there's no reason for competitive pricing.

Is it stronger than the stock one that flexes for road track use.

It would be nice to see one of those help drop significant weight off the front.

Straightline Performance offers (or offered) one for $950. Acowherd has one. There are pictures on their facebook page posted on June 9, 2015. I don't have facebook and don't know how to link to a particular post but here is their main page:

Consider that a benefit, chrome moly would snap at a weld.

This project is a definite go. We finished the prototype of the syclone 3 link suspension we've been developing over the weekend. This means we have some development time while the truck goes through it's testing.

Sneakyworm approached me about this project while we were putting a piston in his 1le. After we cut the rear bar off his cradle to pull the oil pan and welded it back on I started thinking it might be a decent idea. I know there have been some really expensive sub frames built but after calculating materials and fabrication I believe it can be built in the 12-1500 dollar range. We're not doing this to be the cheapest, we concentrate on the quality and the function, then we set price realistically based on actual production cost. We're enthusiasts with a passion for the challenge of engineering something new and gouging people on price isn't part of our business.

My partner and I run JSMachine and fab. We have been concentrating on gm cars, mostly turbo, for more than 15 years as a team, and longer as individuals. We've built everything from hot air Buick intercooler conversions to twin turbo v8 awd trucks to 3 and four link bolt in suspensions. We have built parts for engines, transmissions, body mods, and everything between. Lately we find ourselves focusing on suspension and are looking to move into a larger market. We design and engineer everything in house and build the prototypes on our own cnc and manual equipment. Once we have initial files written and parts cut we build and test. After we're confident the part meets our goals we start production. When we ship a part we know it works as promised. The 1le mentioned above will be our test car for this project.

Our plan is to find out what features the market is most interested in and then implement them into the final product. Weight savings, rigidity, and oil pan clearance are all on my list, but I'm wondering if there are other ideas any of you might contribute. Seriously, we're open to suggestion.

As for timeline, we're out of town the last half of this week for a race, but expect to pick up a known good stock cradle within the next two weeks to start taking measurements.
