So if this performance data for 0-60 times is correct:
  • The 2016 Camaro SS is faster than the outgoing ZL1
  • It's basically a full second faster than the 2015 Mustang GT
  • The future ZL1 will be faster than most Ferraris manufactured in the last 10 years
What a time we live in. Geeze.

Very impressive numbers.

Still not sure if I want a manual or automatic though...

Awesome news! Never doubting GM on hitting those weights. Way to go GM. Great 0-60 and 1/4 times as well.

YES!!! Amazing!!!

An UNDER 3,400 pound turbo 4. Under 3,500 pound V6....under 3,700 pound SS.

THANK YOU so much team Camaro....you've delivered big time in the weight department. I'm not complaining, but imagine what the SS could weigh if it came with the same standard features as the Mustang...smaller wheels, no extra cooling, etc. I'd say it could have been low 3,600 pounds easily.

I am extremely happy right now lol.

Awesome. And so many thought we wouldn't see a sub 3700 lb SS.

I wouldn't say faster. According to the numbers they gave, it's very close in the acceleration department, but the ZL1 has more cornering grip, and shorter stopping distances. Both of which I think can be improved on the new SS with a simple tire swap. And the optional 6 piston calipers.

The future ZL1 is gonna be outrageous!

A few things..

It is about a half second faster than a competitive Mustang GT. Still... in drag racing circles a half second is a huge difference.

Similarly it's close to low end numbers for a ZL1, I wouldn't say faster.

These are fantastic numbers buy let's not overstate them and loom silly

About right where you've been thinking/hoping all along.

Call me crazy, but I don't see how this new SS is going to put out the same times as a ZL1 (even though that's effectively what GM is saying). ZL1 has 580HP vs 455HP of the new SS. Yeah, the SS is a lot lighter, but look at weight/power: It's 7 lb/hp vs 8.1 lb/hp for the ZL1 and new SS respectively. That's a pretty significant difference.

I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for saying this, but I think a lot of the reason is, the ZL1 underperformed based on it's numbers. For acceleration at least, not really for handling, braking or anything else. For the power it had, it should of been trapping 120-122mph, not 117-118. A lot of people that dyno-ed the car were showing results that made it seem like the car made less than 580hp. I know that's not exactly an accurate way to measure because different dynos vary greatly, but just look at trap speeds then. Those don't lie. While some were trapping pretty good, a lot of the time, they just weren't trapping as high as they should. Other cars with less power and the same or more weight were tested to trap higher than the ZL1. That's just my opinion.

I'm ready, let me have it.

When you find one, I'd say $995 for the diff + install.
