What about the pics from couple weeks ago showing a redesigned camaro? There are some saying it could be introduced in 2019 to help with sales of the Camaro. Perhaps this generation will be short and leave no room for Z/28. Mustang had a three year cycle (2015-2017). So what is to say Camaro does not do the same (2016-2018)?
If Camaro does the above and have three year cycle for this generation, that would leave 2 years of production for ZL1 (2017-2018). I am sure many ZL1 owners would not have any issues with this. Makes their ZL1 even more rarer. |

I still think they are on track to make a Z/28. The mule we have been seeing is the refresh, and I think it will be moved up one year, due to low sales making it a 2019 MY. The Z/28 will come out after that, just like in the 5th gen.
Remember the Camaro usually borrows stuff (parts bin) from Cadillac and Corvette. Once the new vette mules are formally introduced, we will know what engine the Z/28 gets. If the new mid-engined vette gets an N/A motor, that will be the one to go in the Z/28. If both the ZR1 and mid-engined vette get FI engines, then the Z/28 will go to FI (which I doubt). As for whether it will be a stripped down version of the Camaro (no A/C, no back seat), perhaps Chevy will go with their own trend and create a Z/28 with some creature comforts, and they will make a Z/28 1LE that has no A/C, no back seat, and more aggressive aero. |

Refresh in another 2-3 years. Then maybe we get a Z/28 before the 7th gen hits the streets. Slow sales in general are the biggest threat. Still too early to tell, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for anything in the next year or two.

The ZR1 is supercharged. You can hear the blower whine in the Laguna Seca videos. The Z/28 won't be supercharged.

Yes, that is why I think a big clue will come once they release info on the mid-engined vette. If the mid-engined vette starts with a new N/A motor, that could be the engine for the Z/28 (if there is one). If the mid-engined vette is FI, then what is the point of a Z/28? It would be too similar to the ZL1 and ZL1/1LE with a FI engine, and they probably won't make an N/A motor just for the Z/28.

It's been said before but, bears repeating that a DOHC motor may not fit in the 6th Gen because of the increased width of the top end.

Maybe a version of the LT1 they put in the GT4.R?

A hot LT1 to me makes the most sense. Take the SS 1LE, hot LT1 and maybe another go fast goodie or two. Slot it above the SS1LE but below the ZL1.
I don't think a 6th gen Z/28 will be the halo model like it was for gen 5 |

But there have been rumors that the new N/A motor for the mid-engined vette will be a smaller displacement (5.5L) FPC motor with DOHC. I'm not sure if the reduced displacement combined with and FPC architecture could reduce the block size enough to offset the increase in head size of DOHC. But perhaps that may make enough difference. All in all, there are way too many ifs here, so I guess we will just have to sit back and wait. |

If I understand correctly, the LT1 in the GT4.R is dry sump, and restricted down to legal hp limits for the GTS class.
Not sure anyone would be real happy with that in a factory Z/28... |

That is why I said a version of it. Kind of like how they detuned the Z/28 for IMSA, just reversed.

That brings us back to the same problem of passing emissions tests, then.
