Should’ve bought an automatic

All my previous sports cars have been
Manuals, except the Supra, I’ve had Z28
C5 ZO6, 300ZX, etc…. But this clutch
On this ZL1 is on/off not progressive
I’m assuming the flywheel is lightweight,
Like the c5 zo6,and contributed to its
“Finicky “ feel, and it seems the low
Idle (600 rpm) also contributes, is this
Clutch/flywheel setup somewhat different
From the past GM vehicles I’ve mentioned?

The ZL1 needs a throttle controller. Without it the anti-stall really ****s with taking off from a stop.

No problems here, although I've always had a manual car and this is my 3rd consecutive Camaro.
It will stall for sure if you let out the clutch at an idle.

Clutch engagement is fine for me too. Similar to Nighttowl, all of my daily drivers have been manual transmissions.

There have been plenty of people complain about the engagement feel though, so you're not the only one. I'm not aware of anything special/unique about the clutch system...

I love driving manuals but this is the one car I made the decision on to get the A10. I am sure you can adapt to the clutch and its character like any car but like you said the clutch engagement characteristics not very forgiving. On the ZL1 I think the tall gearing plays a role as well since you need to give just the right amount of throttle. It takes more focus on getting it just right.

It's funny, I had a Miata ND, which is a riot to shift on the street. Very short gearing. Mazda programmed the car such that when you depress the clutch it raises the RPM about 200 rpm and you can just let the clutch fairly slowly with no throttle if you wanted.

the stock clutch is fine.

i do think the car feels a bit better, takes off smoother in track mode, sport 1 or 2. less of the nannies intervening. more apparent when you are trying to be even slightly aggressive with the acceleration.

I have noticed this same issue with other cars also. I used to have to turn off TC on my 03 cobra every time i got into it, but it was much more pronounced with that car.

Thx for the input,it would be nice if it did have some type of throttle
Controller to raise idle rpm’s to 800 while depressing clutch, or for that matter
Just raise idle, it’s very disconcerting when it craps out in traffic, and u
Have to step on brake to restart! Again, should’ve got an auto
But u really can’t become “Part of the car” with
An auto! ( manual guys get this)

Clutch lets up high vs most but I've certainly noticed the faster you drive the car the better the clutch works, I think they prioritized fast, higher rpm shifting, but it's also amazing how light the clutch is for how much torque it can handle.

A good tuner can adjust it to your preferences as well. I wouldn’t have bought a ZL1 without the M6.

Clutch is OK, launch "control" sucks. Stock throttle mapping is... bad - wish was adjustable w/o voiding el-warranty.

Soler's throttle controller sounds like your fix.

I think you just need a little time with it and will become second nature again like the others I'm sure did. Funny I still have a C5 Z06 and I tend to drive both the same day and it takes a few to get use to each one but Ive had them for a while now. The Camaro is way better but the Z06 is very easy to come off the clutch, you almost can't stall it. Just get into the throttle some and its perfect.
