This year the track opens on May 3rd, and the Grand Prix is on the 9th...

I doubt that would be the case because the actual pace car(s) have to be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway performing their duties before the official "reveal day" in Detroit. Every year I attend the first day of Qualifications and the pace cars are always there on this day. I'm also pretty sure that the pace cars are at the track for the multiple practice sessions that take place during the week prior to Qualifications. This year the first day of practice is Monday, May 11th and the first day of Qualifications is Saturday, May 16th which is the same day as the reveal. Unless Chevy wants people to see the car at Indy before it is officially revealed to the public in Detroit I don't think the new 6th generation Camaro will be the pace car for this years Indy 500. I would bet on the new Z06 Corvette convertible. You never know though.....

Yeah but...

Chevrolet marketing has purchased the rights to the pace car so, they can do whatever they want, even if it's a little unorthodox. All they will care about is what car is out in front of the field on international television on May 24. In the meantime, they can use last year's Z28 or whatever. .002% would notice.

I miss the days of different manufactures each year, it made the event more exciting for me. Having same manufacture it gets old after awhile.

Historically I don't think the pace car has ever been revealed after the track opens for the month of May, but who knows...

Think of the lossess too, new platform dropping at end of may. last years model sitting there going to get drastic price cut, then have 8-10 of these show up, I bet someone will get a smoking deal by august.

$54,180 . Hello! For $54k you would think it would at least have the polished wheels.
