Conveniently, the big-block comes in at an appropriately lower price point, starting at just $105,500; the 427 checks in at $117,500 (same as in 2020) and the supercharged 350 starts at $130,000.

That may be the rating that GM posts but the Copo's with the Magnuson 2650s are making 1400-1450 crank hp so those factory numbers are pretty deceiving. Now if they run Super Stock or Stock in NHRA with the Copo their running anywhere from 8.50s to low 9s depending on the class they are running it. Plus to run Factory Show Down or Factory Stock your gonna need another 125k to make it fit in that class. They have to have a 7.50 Cert Cage and the Factory 350 cu in is not competitive in that class since they only run 8.50 and 8.60s with the 8.50 Cert Cage when they leave the Turn Key Factory. Each of the built motors that come from Stanfield or Barton engines generally run about 50k plus the trans/converter to make them somewhat competitive. So about 250 to 260k will put you in the high 7s if you set the car up right and can drive it wheels up for about 150 feet. I dealt with most of the COPO teams when I was at Magnuson and got to meet most of the teams at some of the events I attended for Magnuson. I miss those days but still hang out with Scott Liebershire and his team at some of the NMCA events I race at, good times. Scott has 9 Copo's and purchased John Forces Copo at Barrett-Jackson a couple years ago for 600,000 bucks and its still never been raced.

That 430 hp rating is nhra's class rating horsepower.

The NHRA HP ratings are nothing but a strategy to fit certain Stock and Super Stock classes. It's kind of a guess at what the Horsepower would be on a production version of the race motors.

As an example. My 2019 COPO runs a 360 HP 302 cubic inch version of the LT1. It has run in the 9.50's in good air.

The 2015 LS3 was rated at 365 HP by the NHRA. So, as you can see, things are not as they appear.....
