Camaro rear axle vs Corvette, 6 speed auto

Hi guys,
I was looking at the gear ratios of the automatic camaro and corvette and noticed while their gear ratios are identical since both use the 6l80e transmission, their rear axle ratios are different.
The camaro has a 3.27 while the corvette has a 2.56 or option 2.73.
I know the camaro is about 500 lbs heavier than the corvette, but doesn't that significantly shorter rear end gearing make the camaro have a lot more punch at low speeds?

Corvette rear tires have around a 2 inch smaller diameter than Camaro SS rear tires. Between 26.5 and 27 depending on the model for the Vette, vs almost 29 for the Camaro.

I wonder if the 2.56 gear in the 'vette at least equivalent to the 3.27 in the Camaro? I know changing tire diameter will make a car behave as if it had a different gear ratio, but I don't know to convert.

Personally, I think the Camaro is under-geared for being how heavy it is. 3.70's do wonders for the auto.

Its very close. And this is exactly why the rear end ratios are so much lower on the vette to account for the change. Also since the vette is lighter then the camaro and combined with the longer ratio the vette gets much better MPG then the camaro, say LS3 C6 vs LS3 or L99 Camaro.

I think the Camaro still has an effectively lower ratio, even with the taller tires. So the Corvette's weight advantage is obviously key.

Um...you guys realize that 2.56 is a HIGHER ratio than 3.27, right? Also, I haven't looked but do both versions of the 6l80e have same internal gear ratios?

Obviously we do, since the Corvette's taller rear end ratio was the point of the thread. I thought both Camaro and Corvette auto boxes had the same internal ratios. If not, I guess this is all a waste of time

They have the same internal ratios, i checked this via several sources since their rear end ratios were so different.
