8l90 coming out/getting built

Car has been prepped, jack stand arrived this weekend.

Everything is out of the way just need to unbolt the trans and drop it down this weekend.

Then after much deliberation it will be going to circle D for their stage 4 build. Was thinking of doing the build myself with their kit and if it were just a stock car would have, but for this application going to spend the extra $$ to have them do the work.

10 weeks or so wait time, but winter is here so not a big deal.

Very nice! Doing the billet input shaft I’m assuming?

Yes, not wanting to take it out again in the future.

Trans is done and on it's way back.

Converter was fine, did knock the stall speed down a little 3200.

Trans was another story he said C1-2-3 were a pretty much done. Most likely due to not having a trans tune for so long. Guess running 750+whp on a stock trans tune with a converter might not be so good for the life of the 8 speed.

He upgraded those clutch packs each with an extra clutch plate, did the billet input shaft and some other small improvements so should have more ability to hold the power. He said I should be good for just about anything I could throw at it.

Now I am thinking my last time at the strip when it felt to me like it was spinning near the top of 2nd and 3rd it might have been the trans slipping instead.

Too bad it looks like winter is returning next week.

Good to hear that it's back and beefier.
What was it doing that caused you to pull it in the first place?

After a pass last year it would drive for about a minute or less and then from what I am told go into a protect mode. Changed fluid which was very dirty along with filter ran it for the last month or so before putting it in storage with no issues.

Did not want to have to worry about it this year so sent it out to Circle D for a full performance rebuild. They called once they had it tore down and C1,2 and 3 were all badly burnt. It had been run for 14k miles or so since the engine was built on a stock trans tune, most likely what did it in.

Hoping to get it out this weekend to at least see if it will shift good without doing the trans re-learn.
