Possible 6th Gen Options
Here are some of the ideas that make some sense to me. MRC could be an option if you buy the 1le package, just like it is for the C7 if you buy the Z51 package. The 1le would be similar in performance to the ATS-V. I think they might combine the ZL1/Z28 into one car just like the new Z06. Another idea is the new LT4 could power the ZL1. Maybe the Z28 could get a 500+ hp LT1. The best thing would be if GM could figure out how to get the direct injected version of the LS7 to work with power and good mpg.

I think they'll make both the ZL1 and Z28. The ZL1 will compete with the Shelby GT mustang with 627 HP while the Z28 will compete with the GT350R which are both cars stripped down to handle the track.

Do you think LT4 both or just ZL1?

The LT4 has to be in the ZL1. And the Z28 will be NA so either Chevy will use a more powerful LS7 (although I doubt they'll use a last generation engine) or LT1 or they have a LT2/LT3 that's NA that is only for the Z28.

I am wondering if a more powerful LT1 would be enough. I really hope GM goes for the throat with the 6 gen.

The LS series, including LS7, are dead for the Camaro after 2015. At this point in time, GM has no N/A engine to replace the LS7 so there is a good chance the Camaro will follow the Corvette and go to just a supercharged high performance version.

I was hoping there was an LT2 or LT3 made specially for the Z28 that they haven't told us about, like how the LS7 was. I don't think it was used in any other cars anyway.

I highly doubt there will be 2 v8 engine options for all of gm's performance cars. I'm sure they have a couple new LT's in the works.

Considering how new the Z/28 is, and the fact that i don't want a track focused car and therefore don't really care about the z/28, I would hope that they are planning for a release maybe in MY 18, with a new variant of LT in NA form. If GM merges the ZL1 and Z/28 (axes the ZL1 variant) and the only HP model is a $75K car, then I will be very disappointed. |

I hope there will be too but I don't see any more Corvette models they can share the engine with.

Well the Corvette guys already tried for a "big cube" LTx and were unable make it hit emissions. So we not see an abondence of LT like we did with the LS family. Remember that the reason for so many LS engines was on account of displacement changes (LS2, LS3, LS7) and the one orientation change (LS4), and a blower (LSA, LS9).
We already have what may be the max cubes that GM will use for this SBC gen. We also have a designation for the blown version. I have to seriously hope we don't see a FWD LTx. Lastly, the only hope for a new LTx would be a heads, cam, intake package ala the LS6. Unless I'm missing something, LT1, LT4, and a longshot "LT6" may be it. Maybe an "LT6" can be justified by sharing it with a Corvette GS?

If the Zora mid engine is in development, I would be surprised if we saw another C7 variant. I guess a Grand Sport built on the Z06 wide body with an LT6 is possible but we haven't seen any prototypes that I know of.

Hard to spot a prototype when the new body style is already out. There could be a new LT motor being driven around in Stingrays as we speak.

Another quick question; Is Zora, (IF there is going to be Zora), to get its own LTx varient?
