2011 2SS LS3 Lifters

I did a Road Trip in October and put on 4885 miles in 20 days. It was great and the car never failed to impress me.
It has 25,00 miles on it.

A couple days later I was slowly putting it in the garage and noticed lifter noise like I had no oil!! Oil quantity was good as was the oil pressure.

During the trip I closely monitored ALL instruments frequently and never observed anything unusual.

I changed the oil and only drove it a few times and put it away for the winter.
The engine quieted down.

Have had the car 3 years now and always use Mobil 1. No issues ever.
I know there are lifter issues out there on LS3s. Corvette guys say 'Ignore it'
I can't.

Ideas????

Thanks!!!!

As I have read, some of the LS3's will sound like a sewing machine, that's their nature. If it was an L99 engine I would be looking into one of the AFM lifters getting ready to take a dump. It could have just been a fluke at that time, as you said the oil was fine and the pressure was good. Keep an eye/ear on it though, just in case. Good luck.

My LS3 has had an on/off tick noise ever since it was new in 2011. I've read alot into this and I'm not concerned. 43,000 miles later with plenty of WOT runs and road trips and my LS3 seems like it now has more power than new. Regular Mobil 1 5W-30 oil changes since new. Oil pressure is normal.

I re-read your post and just saw this,,, lifter issues out there on LS3s.. The L99's are the ones with the lifter issue, the AFM ones, not the LS3's, the LS3's had oil pump issues where the L99 didn't. Go figure that one out!! lol.
