VIR track day PB and a few comments (video)

VIR was great for one day 3/19/18 and a no go for 3/20/2018. I posted a lap of my PB in a 6 min video. I wasn’t really going hard in sections and trying new things in others but it did produce my fastest VIR full time 2:07.59. My tires are now 295/30-20 square Continental Contiforce R comps with an 80 treadwear rating. They were much more predictable than a Pirelli Trofeo R. As you can see, traffic wasn’t a factor which was very nice. My alignment was a bit off last time with a terrible loose condition. The only change was to dial back about .3 of negative camber. As GM recommends, -2.0 front, -1.5 rear. My toe is 0ish front and rear. It was a confident setup and I feel I can definitely go faster now.

Congrats Stephen. Very nice driving. It goes to show just how good the new Zl is when you can lap VIR over 2 seconds faster than your Z28. What was your fastest stock time with the Z28?

Congrats on the PB! How do you like sport 3? By the way... Did I see 160 into roller coaster?? You bested me into roller coaster and 1. I think I was 144 into 1 and 151 into roller coaster at my peak speeds with the z/28.

How'd you like the 295s? I'll need to research them. The 295 r888rs were super loose in the rear on an 11.5" rim. I'm in love with the super car 3r tired but I have to be have. Just a few drifts and I wore the rears down a bit!

2:10.1 in my Z/28 but I am no match for kramard who posted a “stupid fast” 2:04.4 in his Z/28. He has pro type skills to run that fast and I’m not kidding.

the 295s are definitely no better than your 3rs so stick with them. The tires I used were a closeout on tire rack and only 2 sizes are left and 295/30-20 just happened to be one of the sizes. I only have the straightaway speed because of an extra 145hp! My sectors need cleaning up but I’m getting better. Yeah, 160 on the back and 150-151 on the front.

Good to meet you yesterday. You should have hung around for today. Track dried out, and with the cold air I got down to 2:07.21.
