Problem with the 6 shooter
Ok not sure if this is happening to anybody else but when i step on the gas to floor it or just go fast in general its like its holding back it doesnt take off like it used to. Kind of sounds like something is blocking the air flow because even the exhaust note change i have no clue what the problem is can somebody help

I always feel stupid saying this because I know it's meant for the V8's, but try pulling fuse 5 and 20 for at least a couple hours. Most will say over night, but you should disconnect the battery too, because you will most likely get a check engine light after you put them back in. Your car will relearn its fuel map. Also pull your air filter while waiting and make sure it's clean. If not replace or if it's a cai, then recharge it.
I just did this to mine after a few maintenance items and changing the plugs. To my butt and foot, it definitely feels better again. My avg mpg came back up from all of it too...

if they rattle it is definately a problem, if they don't, you should still check them to see if they have collapsed and have reduced flow.

Maybe you need a Vmax TB and a CAI?

Catalytic converters used to be made with a ceramic matrix that was easy to shatter and crumble until it had all fallen out (you do need to completely remove the cat midpipe to adequately access it and dump the contents).
These days most often the matrix is welded in stainless steel, coated with platinum and the other precious metals needed for catalysis to occur. IOW- sometimes it's a real PIA cuz you've got to get it all or risk a big chunk coming free down the road and blocking the exhaust. Rattle may be obvious (sometimes you can hear it just sitting in the car at idle), or require disassembly and a good shake to hear. If you think you've got a problem, visual inspection is the best idea. If the catalyst has collapsed, it can make no noise- just completely plug that bank of exhaust. One thing you can bet on if you de-cat... rasp! Another quick check for equal flow would be to just slide back the wide clamps holding the cat-back exhaust on, and see if both sides are flowing freely and equally at idle on up... just wait til mid-day when the neighbors are at work! |
