Was just telling my friend about it. He's ordered a Mach 1 (Cup 2 tires) and was wondering about alternatives to reduce price of consumables. Looks like the tire is a bit cheaper than Cup 2, but more $ than F1 SC3.
The test was on a lighter car, a Miata I believe. Not very valid data for heavier cars in my opinion.

3R not legal for SCCA Autox.

Goodyear SuperCar 3 is a good tire and can be competitive.

Falken and Nankang a bit better for AX on Factory ZLE wheel sizes.

Falken, Nankang and Yok the goto if you step down to 18” wheels.

Yoks fastest out of the box. Nankang and Falken still fast and can be faster in Warner climates. Nankang and Falken longer tire life.

Best regards,
Dave

Because his question was still related to how they would compare to the other tires in Autox and which of all the options might be best. I compete against all the makes listed. Do you?

I shared what I’ve experienced…

I’ve now driven 6th Gen Camaros on Goodyears, 3 and 3R’s.. Yoks, Nankang and Falken.

I would suspect based on even my conversations with Jeff Speer of Hoosier, that the Conti isn’t going to be the faster tire unless extremely warm temperatures.

We are trying to get some Conti’s to compare to.

Dave

New Continental ExtremeContact Force (200 tw) Coming

I’d assume you don’t know me either. And I’m sure Dave hasn’t tried the Conti in proper zle sizes either to report back as no one can get them at the moment.

The question still remains. With legal tire covers in regular weather 315/345 contis may still be faster than 315 stretched ao52.

When the stickier compound conti hits, it will mean conti is the only vendor making zle capable sizes and stickier than ao52. Yoko will have to make bigger sizes for the bigger cars.

Are you talking about the Conti ECF's in this thread? They are NOT stickier than the A052. The reps that we talked to at the ProSolo said they are targeting the Hankook RS-4, not an 'ultimate grip' tire.

The GRM article specifically says Conti/Hoosier targeted the 'Endurance 200' tire market.

They will have two compounds eventually.

And you can get a 345 in the current compound. That might do the trick with some heat.

I have a set of these sitting in the garage ready to go on the Miata next Friday. We'll see how they do on the street and rain pretty quickly. Also, my stack of extra wheels/tires is getting silly.
