How much for a complete header job with exhaust? Will the headers add excessive heat under the hood?

Love me some Tacos

You will have additional heat and to remove that you can either wrap the headers or ceramic coat them. Some don't mind the increased heat level in the engine bay. Myself I went with ceramic coating the headers. I recommend doing it if you want less temps.

Janetty Racing; can't recommend his package enough. L/tubes, CAI, hf cats and a tune. Different car. Best bang for the buck ever. No codes, no problems. c470 hp.

Not even gonna read all the replies, as I'm sure 99% of them agree on that it is indeed worth it. Especially when budget headers exist, there is no reason not to!

I would keep my stock catback and just add the headers first to see if you like the sound. Then if your wanting a different or louder sound then get the catback. You will not gain Hp from catbacks, just the Lt's. Also go with a 1 7/8 header. Finally you don't have to get cats, you can opt for catless mid pipe. I haven't had cats in illannoys since 2001 lol.

no one says anything about this but what kind of fuel is available where you live? The best I can get is 91 octane. Unless you take it somewhere and get an actual dyno tune for the fuel you can redily purchase, you are in for a surprise. In my experience and from the research I have done since....all mail order tunes will require 93 octane and if not used the ECM will drop into the low octane table. In this map the car is a dog. For me I have to add half a bottle of torco octane booster with each fill up ( $22 a bottle) to keep the car in the high octane map. My car is a toy so not the end of the world but if its a daily driver, an extra $11 a fill up would get old fast!!
Just a heads up, as I said I never saw any info on this prior to my purchase of headers and tune. |

Yes to headers all the way, it makes a huge difference and sounds great. For easy tune access, remote tune with DynoSteve or Janetty Racing works awesome!

CA: smog legal shorty headers with catless downpipes, the downpipes are fairly easy to replace with stock downpipes when you smog.

Don't do it, headers will cause a condition called permagrin.
