Well swapping out badges and reprinting marketing materials is easy.

Changing bodywork is more difficult. Especially when GM typically begins sourcing suppliers years in advance.

For example, a product for 2018 is already in that phase. The only reason we know about it is because suppliers are being sourced.

Make sense, but couldn't certain body panels change?

Oh yeah. Especially if they decide it's flat out not working aero-wise. But those are typically minute, fine details like how much a spoiler kicks up.

But yeah, if they have to completely change a body panel then they'll do it. There's not a whole lot they can do with the overall design once its locked in though.
