I have heard some complaints about the wrap becoming loose or unglued. Have any of you experienced this?
BTW are the 1LE plastic door panels microfibered also? |

No, the door panels are still plastic. I just used the Joseph a Banks to clean/restore my wheels, shifter and seats. They alkl turned out great and I finished them all with a Chemical Brothers product to protect them from stains.

Jos.A.Bank is a men's clothing store, the price tag in the pic looks like it says $7. Not sure what that thing is.

You can get a similar brush and eraser at Walmart for around the same price. I use to use it on my suede Jordan's. Gets the job done.

I used to think this alcantara/suede car stuff is awesome, like Porsche GT3's etc. Now that I have it in my 1LE I can't wait to buy the ZL1 leather steering wheel and shifter. Not a fan of it at all to be honest, kinda surprised myself.

I agree, it looks great when new but after a few thousand miles you have to clean it. I don't have the recaro seats as I have a 13 but I would rather all leather. If suede was an option I bet very few would actually pay for it.

Are any of you mixing up suede with microfibre?
The stuff in your 1LE should be no different than a microfibre couch the kids play on. Water and soap and you are done. However that recipe to clean would be suicide on suede. The real suede in my Alpina BMW's steering wheel and shifter would last about as long as it would take to smoke a pack of cigarettes. Not the case with microfibre. Make no mistake with leather, if you don't feed and wipe it down every week, the side bolsters will be toast, as well as the shifter. But I have to wonder how often some of you wash your hands? |

Our steering wheels and shifter knobs are Alcantara (brand name.) It's basically machine washable material. Of course, ours are not removeable, so what I do is use a tiny bit of clothes washing detergent in a damp wrung out microfiber towel. I mosty just squeeze the wheel and knob with just a bit of rubbing if there's a stubborn spot. I've had my 1LE about 14 months and have only had to do this twice. Both times it comes back as new after drying. I'm sure that a gentle brushing after drying would help, too. See here under yearly cleaning: http://www.alcantara.com/#/en/menu/t...ry_maintenance I hope that this helps, Tara
